Does your company care about more than just money? A lot of the time businesses think that video needs to justify its cost by being directly leveraged to make money. While it can definitely do that, sometimes one of the most effective ways to showcase your brand is by telling stories about how your work adds to human flourishing in the world. If you really care about people in your business, there are many ways to share your values through video. Here are a few: • If your product or service directly impacts people in a positive way, tell their story. • Do you have a program that serves your employees in some way? Tell us about it through video. • Partner with a non-profit financially and share that story (a bonus is that your video builds the non-profit's presence as well). • Organize your staff to volunteer in the community and share about what you did and why. There are many reasons why your customers might want to do business with you, and one of them is definitely the fact that you care about people. We are so excited to announce that we are officially launching the Health Equity Community Collaborative (HECC). We are a movement of community health leaders, public health researchers, healthcare providers and health equity advocates committed to cultivating belonging, healing and shared power within our shared community. Our goals are to share resources, best practices and expertise across issue areas, sectors and geographies, along with reimagining policy and directing more resources to community health. In October 2020, community leaders and health advocates came together to establish the Vaccine Equity Cooperative (VEC) to address the converging health crises of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we have had some incredible wins, the work must continue. Thank you for all your feedback – from meetings, to surveys, to working groups, webinars and more – about how we should move forward. No one person, organization, philanthropist, institution or community can eradicate health inequities alone, and we want to co-create this next phase alongside you. Myself and the core partners remain committed to building the biggest tent so that we all can learn, serve, heal and benefit in a caring community. With this in mind, please join our upcoming HECC Virtual Community Gathering Launch Event on Tuesday, August 6th at 2pm ET / 11am PT to learn more about the HECC and how you can co-create alongside us. No one organization can address health equity challenges alone. Studies repeatedly show social drivers of health (SDoH) impact patient outcomes far more than traditional healthcare delivery. But SDoH are complex, interconnected social mechanisms, requiring a multi-pronged approach to address. However, the business and nonprofit ecosystems often compel us to prioritize our own interests. At KC Health Collaborative we urge you to extend your focus. Think of the progress we can make toward health equity if we look beyond the confines of the current system. Meaningful change can only come from collaboration. Working together, community organizations and local businesses can pool resources, share expertise, and amplify their voices to tackle the multiple inputs of social drivers of health head-on. Together, let's breakout of our silos, collaborate across sectors to reach more people in need, and drive sustainable change. Join us to create a healthier KC for all.
