Building Connections Beyond the Office At Elve, we believe that innovation starts with strong connections—and what better way to build those than through our Team Days? Back in November, our team gathered at a park in Davis for a Thanksgiving potluck. Everyone brought their favorite dishes, played sports like soccer and volleyball, and took time to socialize while enjoying music and the beautiful outdoors. This is just one of the many fun activities we’ve shared together, including axe throwing, camping, painting, and more. Each Team Day brings new opportunities to bond, create memories, and strengthen the sense of collaboration that drives our work. Our Team Days aren’t just about having fun—they’re designed to foster the collaboration and creativity that drive our mission. Whether it’s structured activities or unplanned moments of connection, these gatherings remind us of the value of working together as a team. Here’s to the connections that fuel innovation, and to the incredible Elve People who make it all possible. 🌟 What’s your favorite way to build team connections? Let us know in the comments! #TeamCulture #InnovationAtWork #ElveTech #Thanksgiving #TeamBuilding

I was very excited to join the waterfowl count at Lake Chivero Bird Sanctuary yesterday🦆🦜🪶🍁. But, as fate would have it, I missed the bird walk🤦♀️. Here's what happened: I left home at 6 am, thinking I had enough time to get to our 6:30 am meet-up point. I stay just 10 minutes away from town, so I thought I was safe. However, the kombi(omnibus) took a longer route and I arrived in town after 20mins. With just 10 minutes to spare, I ordered an InDrive. But, the driver didn't know the exact location, and neither did I. We relied on GPS, which took us to the wrong gate. Seeing there was no one in sight, I had to make calls fast to locate the team. Unfortunately the person I called wasnt going but told me I wasnt at the correct gate where the team was meeting. So i had to walk back to the other gate further down. I arrived at 6:37 am, only to find out that the team had already left at 6:30 am. I was disappointed and had a dull morning💔. It was my fault though. I now know better, next time I will be early🤞😂. As I reflected on what happened, I realized that a lack of preparation and planning had led to my missed opportunity. If I had: → Known the exact meet-up point beforehand not just the name → Left home earlier to account for unexpected delays → Communicated better with the team beforehand I probably would have made it on time. This experience taught me about the importance of planning and preparation. Life doesn't wait for anyone. Time keeps moving, and that one second or one minute can be the difference between an amazing opportunity and regret. New week, new chances! Don't let lateness hold you back from seizing opportunities. Plan ahead, stay focused and #HappyNewWeek! Have you ever missed an opportunity due to a lack of preparation? Share your story and lets learn from each other!🙃 #BirdWatching #OpportunityLost #TimeManagement #PunctualityMatters

🛶 Dock Day 🛶 As the neatly stacked pieces of the dock sit in order, there’s a collective sigh of relief. A quick exchange of high-fives among the small, dedicated group who’ve been tackling this task together for many years. Sitting back to admire our work this weekend, we couldn’t help but reflect on how much this process has evolved. What was once a tedious job has become a streamlined ritual, but now we realize we’ve become a little stubborn in owning it. It’s no longer just about getting the docks out; it’s about progression and thinking of the future of the club. Our board, made up of the BEST volunteers, works tirelessly to make sure things run smoothly. We’re working hard to transfer years of hands-on experience into solid procedures and documents, creating a roadmap for the next team. They’ll get a lifejacket - clear guidance - whereas we had to learn to swim or risk sinking. Succession planning has become a cornerstone of our back-office organization, ensuring that when the time comes, the future team will be ready to take the helm. #EndOfSeason #NewBeginnings #SuccessionPlanning #Teamwork #StreamlinedProcess #VolunteerPower #FutureFocused #ClubLeadership #PassingTheTorch #BuiltToLast
