November 2020 immersive. was born. Middle of a global pandemic, Brexit was still a problem, and the global economy had stopped. Perfect time to make the jump from employment to start-up land. The solution I arrived at was an embedded recruitment business based in Tallinn, Estonia. The first 3 months yielded lots of conversations, but no clients until Jan 21 hit… *Not a huge point to this post, it’s more of a public diary entry… I’m told this sort of thing is cathartic. I'm fascinated by what can emerge from an encounter. I thrive on the dynamic of sharing ideas. 🌎 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗦 𝗳𝗼𝗿... ... almost forever! I'm French, but I grew up in the United States and my family is half American, half-French. After studying in Europe, I returned here with my family in 2013 and raised my children here. In practical terms, I know Americans and their culture very well. I understand them and, like many other immigrants, I certainly share a taste for cultural differences. 🗽 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸! Here, the realm of possibilities is endless! From a professional perspective, the market and opportunities are huge. It's like the song says: if you have an idea, "you can make it". In my work, I have many varied and fruitful meetings: I support the subsidiaries of established European companies or looking to establish them here by recruiting their teams... 🎢 What about the economic situation in the US? Despite the slowdown in recent months, the market remains active, and the potential is there for Mind Partners North America, which is still quite new. But beware! I believe the importance of cultural differences between Europe and the United States is often underestimated. We think we are alike; however, the gap is enormous, in terms of human interactions and business approach ... Do you know "The Culture Map" by Erin Meyer? 😉 🌟 𝗔𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲? For French and European SMEs and mid-sized companies wanting to penetrate the North American market, the challenges are very high.
