Fundraising is hard! This week I'm sharing top tips for writing grant applications on the Artichoke blog. It would be great to hear from the grant-makers, trusts and foundations in my network. What would be your advice to prospective applicants? What are the main do’s and don’ts? · Do your research – read the guidelines carefully and only apply if your project meets the criteria · Prioritise – you won’t be able to apply for every opportunity · Leave enough time – check how often trustees meet · Be prepared – look at all the questions before you start writing · Tailor your application – reflect the funder’s interests and priorities · Have a clear structure – tell a story from beginning to end · Learn to love budgets - another way to tell your story in numbers · Be realistic about your costs and potential to raise match funding · Rejection is ok, keep trying – today's fundraising landscape is extremely competitive. Try not to be discouraged and keep applying for opportunities! Check out the full article on the Artichoke blog below.

Did you know nearly one-third of solo shows in US museums go to artists represented by just five galleries? So why does diversity matter? Diversity is like a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room. It brings new ideas, new perspectives, and new ways of seeing the world. It challenges us to think differently, to question our assumptions, and to open our minds and our hearts to new possibilities. Diversity isn't just good for artists, it's good for all of us. When we embrace diversity in the art world, we're not just enriching our cultural landscape, we're building a more inclusive, more vibrant society for everyone. That's why ODBK matters, that's why your donation and your support are paramount now more than ever. #ODBK #nonprofit #contemporaryart #fyp #donate #diversitymatters #DiversityAndInclusion

A Historic Event That Fundraising Made Possible It was one of the greatest events in American history. Some 250,000 crowded into the National Mall, many of them quite poor. There, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his singular, soaring, timeless "I Have A Dream" speech. That speech and that event proved influential in the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. But how was the March on Washington made possible? How did so many people of such modest means make it to Washington and make such an impression on the world? How did they demonstrate the power of numbers and the potential of democracy? It was through a series of remarkable fundraising events illuminated in this article. Fundraising events, like fundraising itself, can rise to the level of great and historic when put in service to a great cause. The smaller the cause, the more narrow the goal and the shorter the horizon, the smaller that fundraising, fundraising events and organizational ambitions seem. Some say a lack of resources keeps us from dreaming big; I say it's the lack of big dreams that keeps us from securing more significant resources. Do you have an epic dream or budgetary need?

In Germany, like in many other parts of the world, there's a lack of representation when it comes to artists of color. We're talking about a serious underrepresentation that can't be ignored. When the voices of diverse communities are missing from the conversation, we're missing out on a whole world of perspectives, experiences, and stories that need to be heard. Why does diversity matter so much in the German art world? Well, it's simple, folks. Diversity isn't just about checking boxes or ticking off quotas. It's about enriching our cultural landscape, sparking innovation, and fostering empathy and understanding. When we embrace diversity in the German art world, we're not just making art for a select few, we're making art for everyone. We're creating a more inclusive, more vibrant society where everyone's voice matters and everyone's talent is celebrated. #ODBK #nonprofit #DiversityAndInclusion #nonprofit #donate #fyp #contemporaryart

Updated post! The fundraising campaign for 'A War Within' is now LIVE on both Kickstarter and GoFundMe! Be advised, Kickstarter has given us only 60 days to meet our goal, and they have a strict policy of 'All or Nothing', meaning that if we do not reach our goal within the 60 day time period, we do not receive any of the funds. This is why we have decided to do both campaigns. Kickstarter is a platform which attracts backers who are interested specifically in supporting creative projects, while GoFundMe is a more flexible platform, which allows for ongoing fundraising without a set deadline or goal. We intend to utilize donations from the GoFundMe for pre-production needs, such as securing our film locations, equipment and resources needed for filming; funds from the Kickstarter campaign will be used for post-production needs, i.g., editing, sound design and scoring, distribution, marketing and promotional materials. Please consider which one might work best for you, and find it in your heart to help us bring 'A War Within' to life. The smallest amount makes a difference. https://lnkd.in/ey-dQYV8 https://lnkd.in/eZDieqrA
