As I reflect on my journey so far in the film industry, working primarily as a production assistant in advertising, I am struck by the incredible path I've embarked upon. For the past 18 months, I've been honing my skills, combining creativity with practical experience, always driven by a vision to do more, to be more. My life, for the most part, has been a grind - a relentless pursuit of a dream, often without a support system. But it's this very grind that has shaped my resilience, my ability to create and tell stories that widen perspectives and share untold narratives. My aspirations are not modest - I see myself as a director and a creative force. I pride myself on my ability to weave disparate elements into a cohesive, engaging narrative. I am eagerly awaiting acceptance into a graduate program for directing, a step that will further refine my skills and expand my network. I believe in the power of collaboration and am open to connecting with professionals across the spectrum of the film industry. In ten years, I envision myself having directed at least one of my own feature-length films, marking my signature in the industry. My goal is to be at the forefront of transitioning cinema into an era of decentralized content. In my view, this shift isn't just about technology; it's about giving voice to untold stories and widening perspectives in a way that reshapes our understanding of the world. To all my connections, old and new, I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Let's create, innovate, and redefine the boundaries of what film can be! #FilmIndustry #Directing #Storytelling #FutureOfCinema #DecentralizedContent #filmmaking #film #filmproduction

When you're involved with a film project, especially a feature, it's crucial to leverage that as best you can to keep your momentum moving in the right professional direction. We all want to be working on projects that excite us, so when you have anything out there in the world, you should think, 'How can I utilize this to further my career?' It can involve writing a press release, posting on social media, or reaching out to people you want to collaborate with. Telling people about a project you're involved in, even if it's a small part, shows that you are also invested in the success of that project. People who make films are attracted to that type of energy. If a filmmaker has to twist your arm to help promote a film you were involved in—whether as an actor, editor, colorist, sound technician, gaffer, PA—it doesn't matter what you did, that film is your opportunity to reach out to people. What better reason to tell people what you've been up to than to say, 'Hey, I wanted to share a film I PA'd on. It was a great experience, and I learned so much.' The producer, assistant director, or whoever will respect that kind of outreach and take a mental note. It's also a great way to stay on someone's radar. So why press releases, even if you have a small part? A press release means you control the narrative, shows that you understand that every film needs marketing, and even if you aren't paying to get your press release out and posting it on free platforms, the fact that you capitalize on a moment means you're moving up, you're a force to be reckoned with. It also doesn't hurt that when someone googles that project, that press release that you posted can show up. Even if it doesn't get picked up, you can still post it on a free platform and then post that on your website under press. A person who doesn't capitalize on projects doesn't get noticed and we live in a world where that means something. Even the effort means something so I hope you leverage any and all opportunities. #film101 #indiefilmmaking #filmmarketing
