Regeneration meets design 🍃 What does it mean for a project to be regenerative? It goes beyond sustainability to enrich and give back. It supports our human relationships with each other and the planet and helps us feel happier and healthier. Engaged as a biophilic consultant by the Exhibit Staging Center at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, we worked in partnership with FortyEighty Architecture and the community on a design vision that elevates health and well-being, connects us to place, revitalizes nature, and gives more than it takes. This former public works building continues to serve labor workers and grounds crew. In addition to space for prop creation, the ESC features a yoga studio, fitness center, and meditation room to encourage Phipps employees' mental and physical wellness. For guests of the conservatory, a remediated brownfield is now a contemplative garden that restores natural balance and rhythms.
