Calling all Senior VFX artists with Unreal Engine experience! We are looking for someone to join us and bring their VFX skills to an original IP game we’re working on! If this interests you, find out more and apply here: https://lnkd.in/gHh8FvZT
Do YOU need someone to take your whimsical animations and combine it with your crazy-cute on-set live-action footage? Do you need someone to create an abandoned neighborhood, village, or other environment? Do you need something that exists only in the form of pixels and voxels to crumble, explode, or erode? Do you want someone who knows a bunch about a variety of programs and can easily learn and grow?
Well, look no further! I am still available to join your team! I am currently versed in the wonders of Houdini, Nuke, Unreal Engine, Maya, and After Effects, and I can learn whatever other programs needed pretty quickly.

🧠 VFX Artists! Do you hate having to select keys and set values on them on a Float From Curve in Unreal Engine's Niagara Editor?
An easier way to accomplish this is to set them up as particle parameters using a Remap Range function. Here's how!

This project is a mix of Houdini & Unreal. The vehicle and cameras were animated in Houdini. The Dust sim was also done in Houdini using Axiom. The scene is lit by a quite lowrez HDRI, that was also used as a cheap environment. The ground is basically a plane with a Megascans texture. I did not want to do to much with the environment since the focus was on the animation workflow between Houdini and Unreral. Rendered with the path tracer in unreal 5.3 with super low settings (each frame took about 7-8 seconds). The edit was done in sequencer in Unreal, which has the nice benefit that we only need to render exactly what is needed. The final edit was done in DaVinci Resolve.

Here's why I'm never switching back from Unreal 5...
I got into VFX to make my OWN films
But after 8 years in the VFX industry, I realized I've been spending my life bringing OTHER peoples ideas to life instead of my own!
💥 Unreal 5 let's you create any idea, any film, WITHOUT needing 200+ person teams, expensive render farms, and the resources of a VFX studio. You can create your own big-budget ideas from home, and I want to show you how! 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecKPPtVr
I've spent the last 2 years using Unreal on-set and making films of my own, and I'm sharing some of the biggest lessons I learned in the Godzilla Masterclass.
Come behind-the-scenes with me! And I'll breakdown my latest short on how you can make complex Monster Movies WITHOUT leaving Unreal Engine. If you're a filmmaker, VFX artists, or you've been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the right moment to learn Unreal... this is for you!

From five podcasts on real-time VFX, I gathered that each VFX artist has their own story of how they came to pursue this field. What they all share is that nobody enters RTFX from scratch: they all have backgrounds as 3D modelers, animators, game designers, and so on.
I was afraid of nodes. An artist, specializing in mural art and graffiti, purely out of a sense of greediness during a weekend, decided to take a Blender 3D course, which was bought by my wife, a 2D artist Helen Aksiutenko. Unexpectedly, I liked it. Wanted to try everything: sculpting, texturing, animation, and even simulating a cloth falling on a table. But the geometry nodes... for some reason, my brain categorized this task as "for geniuses" and procrastinated for months, fearing to open the mysterious tab. Romance didn't happen: one day I pushed myself and tried. Unexpectedly, I liked it.
Even more unexpected for me was that in real-time VFX, you need to write code in Blueprint. "Oh my, I'm a real programmer!" - I exclaimed joyfully when I managed to piece together the animation of the effect cast, which you can see below. The effect itself was created as part of the course "Creating Stylized VFX in Unreal Engine 5" by Pawel Margacz
P.S. Usually, sound is absent in effect demonstrations. I find this boring, so I inserted meowing cats. Which of the three soundtracks do you think is the best?
