During a recent walk, I filmed a seemingly blocked and narrow road. This made me reflect and refresh my memory on how perspective in cinema can change our understanding of a scene. What appears limited can, from another angle, reveal depth and vastness. This principle is crucial in filmmaking, where every angle tells a different story.

🚀 The Toronto International Film Festival (#TIFF24) isn’t just about films; it’s about putting the audience in charge. There’s no professional jury here—it’s the viewers who decide. And that’s what makes it special, keeping the audience at the heart of it all. Kind of like Filmustage, which helps filmmakers take charge of the pre-production process.
Filmustage is your go-to tool for prepping your shoot. It breaks down scripts, builds shooting schedules, and makes the whole pre-production process easier. Just like TIFF lets the audience pick the winners, Filmustage makes pre-production simple and accessible for every filmmaker.
Ready for a filmmaking revolution? Subscribe to Filmustage and make your pre-production as smooth as TIFF’s audience-powered magic! 🎥✨

🍿🎬 10 Essential Movies to Understand Film Noir
Trying to get into the most interesting genre of Old Hollywood? Here are 10 movies whose labyrinthine plots, darkened alleys, and bleak atmospheres are essential if you want to dive into the alluring shadows of film noir. i once had a major hollywood ep snap at me a bit because i basically said that people hold up "citizen kane" like some sort of holy grail and i don't think doing that is super great.
he didn't like that. and told me if i ever wanted support or funding from people like him or his friends, i better respect the history of hollywood.
that was over 5 years ago but i still think about the sting of that conversation sometimes.
it wasn't his words that stung.
it was the fact that i wanted to not seek to copy what has already been done, and not blindly obsess over pretense and snobby bookshelf armchair reverence. and he felt the need to press that out of me, if only in firm words.
that isn't to say it isn't a great film, or there wasn't huge cinematic innovation in its creation (because it obviously was and there absolutely was).
but to hold anything as an end-all of filmmaking and try to recreate the heart of it over and over instead of lauding that it was done, thinking what could be better, and growing from there is kind of the problem with hollywood.
never mind the inherent static that comes with being told over and over (at the time) that you can't give a first time feature director any sort of budget, and knowing this first-time feature director didn't even want the job and was chased by hollywood to give him millions of dollars (given inflation) to direct the movie.
the whole point of the film being amazing was all the rules it broke and all the innovation in cinematic storytelling.
yet now so many (especially newer) filmmakers want to make "the next 'citizen kane'" when they should be making the next amazing breakthrough in storytelling.
have i seen the film in full? of course.
does the line "rosebud" haunt me? of course.
does it inspire me to try to find ways to innovate, tell stories differently, take risks, try new things, do things in ways people say "isn't the way it is done" - of course.
and by that very inspiration, i have no desire to make "the next 'citizen kane'."
because isn't that the point?
Making of Shot list application for cinema pre-production
it's a tool to generate reports from the shot list to predict chances of issues and project estimations.
At the end we get Chart 📉 representation and clear report which includes maximum technical aspects to be considered before execution of film making process. Hopefully it'll reduce the pressure and issues caused by improper pre-production.

I'm very proud to be part of this feature length documentary.
Mark continues to raise awareness about an issue that urgently needs addressing. If we continue to ignore the lack of working class voices in the screen industries, we are on the brink of UK media being created solely by the rich and well connected (or are we already there?).
We need a level playing field now.

Award-winning Scottish Self-Shooting Filmmaker of Quiet on the Set: The Class Division in the Film Industry? Mother & Wild, Tristan v Christann, Memories of Mortlake
In my film `Quiet on the Set: The Class division in the film industry?` Filmmaker Jason Ruddy and I are both pessimistic and optimistic about the future of British filmmaking here in the UK. We both agreed that the organisations at very top need to start believing and supporting working-class people who are self-taught and did not necessary go to film school, but yet have a filmography because of their passion for making films!

Exactly one year ago, my short animated film Loading: Memory Glitch premiered as part of the first Storytelling Fellowship program organized by 3Lateral and Epic Games.
What happened since then? A couple of great things happened, in addition to the fact that I met a lot of great people, I was given the opportunity to share my knowledge and experiences first as an alumni and very quickly as an official lecturer on cinematography topics at all Unreal and UEFN fellowship programs. I just hope that through the sessions and lectures, I contributed at least a little to the works of the participants of the fellowship programs being better, and I hope even more that each of them learned at least a few things from me (if nothing else, at least film shot:)
What's not good is that I really wanted, and I still want, to continue developing the story and production of my short film, which was supposed to grow into a ten-minute short in the next phase, and later, who knows, probably a feature film.
It's really challenging sometimes to fight alone as the head of an indie studio(84FRAMES), with all the daily business tasks and running in circles for new projects and clients, just to keep the studio moving forward and surviving among increasing competition, and at the same time to think and deal with something that could only be just a showcase project.
So that's why I want to invite everyone who has an idea, expertise to contribute and of course good will to support and help the project with their resources, to get in touch (office@84frames.com) and let's try together to breathe new life into Loading: Memory Glitch sequel.
