ASEAN Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors released a statement at the end of their 11th annual meeting. It highlighted progress on existing initiatives and set out new initiatives. The 10-page statement covered: 2024 priorities; economic outlook and challenges; financial integration and liberalization; trade and investment facilitation; financing, payment and service connectivity; sustainable infrastructure financing; sustainable finance; financial inclusion; disaster risk financing; cross-sectoral collaboration; working committee mandates; ASEAN Treasury Forum; engagement with external partners; ASEAN-UK financial services cooperation; and dialogue with the business councils. Work on the ASEAN Taxonomy, Trade in Services Agreement, Digital Economy Framework Agreement, digital payments, local currency, innovative infrastructure financing and single window are areas of particular note.

The Common framework holds immense importance in addressing the national debt obstacle, particularly for limited income countries. This framework serves as a crucial step towards finding sustainable solutions and fostering global economic stability. It also emphasizes the significance of international cooperation and collaboration among G20 members and other nations.
