By driving efficiency OFFSITE, we add value ONSITE. With our newly-launched PVCu window and door fabrication hub located directly across the street from CCG Offsite Manufacturing (OSM), we are driving efficiencies like never before in the assembly of the ‘iQ’ closed panel timber system. The panels shown here have been pre-installed with insulation, internal wall linings and our PVCu windows under semi-automated, highly controlled conditions. This means that when they reach their final destination at the new 58-bedroom Anniesland Care Home in Glasgow’s west end, our onsite operations are streamlined, with a reduction in material storage and manhandling, alongside a faster speed of installation. This manufacturing prowess forms part of a comprehensive service offering unlike anything in the Scottish construction industry which includes pre-construction technical design and management, main contracting, flooring installation, and plumbing, as well as M&E and utilities from CCG Group members, Arc-Tech (Scotland) and Arc-Tech MU respectively. Our holistic approach to construction is transforming the way we address Scotland’s ageing population, supporting the NHS, and delivering game-changing results. How safe are we in our buildings?
🔬 New Cladding Test in Victoria! 🏢 We recently conducted another cladding test, this time using an ACP back-pan. Our investigation focused on the combustibility of materials on a building in Victoria. This research is part of our commitment to improving building safety and ensuring the highest standards are met. Stay tuned for more insights and updates from our findings! #BuildingSafety #Cladding #ConstructionInnovation #FireSafety #Victoria

Yet another one of BASIC Expert ‘s large scale bespoke cladding tests conducted in support of a SFAIRP risk assessment of an existing building following Engineers Australia’s Society of Fire Safety Practice Guide. This one caught me by surprise as I didn’t expect the hidden ACP backpan to have such an impact. On the other hand it is the reason we do testing as one’s engineering judgment often needs more data in order to “get it right”. The information from the test will lead to a rectification approach based on data, not just engineering judgment; and based on the specific building in question, not just a system specific standard test.

Yesterday, BKHS Pre-Construction Manager Alex Brock joined an expert panel at PEFC UK Limited’s Managing #Moisture in Mass Timber Conference at the NCVO in London to discuss moisture, timber and mitigation strategies. Key takeaways: 💡 Moisture is a high priority, not just for specialist subcontractors but for main contractors, architects, engineers and insurers 💡 The industry has a broad understanding of the risks of moisture, however it's now about disseminating that knowledge to the wider industry 💡 In the event of a moisture event, with the right expertise timber can be repaired locally with relatively non-invasive methods Alex Brock, BKHS Pre-Construction Manager: “It was a pleasure to join a panel of experts to discuss moisture management strategies and more importantly how we can reduce risk for developers, operators and tenants with mass timber portfolios. There were some excellent presentations across the day with a relative positivity towards the adoption of timber - it's now a case that the knowledge of specialists needs to be disseminated further through documents, workbooks and guidance notes” At B&K Hybrid Solutions, we believe that the key to #moisturemanagement is a deep understanding of the material, combined with careful planning and management through the whole delivery process. From design, manufacture and installation through to final handover to the client, our team ensure the whole process is methodically planned and carried out by our highly skilled team - giving the highest level of customer satisfaction and ultimately material durability. The Future Homes Standard comes into effect at the start of 2025, coinciding with the new government’s goal to build 1.5 million homes over the next four years. Government goals are rarely met but maybe this one can be with the help of our timber frame industry. Target Timber is one of an army of highly efficient timber frame manufacturers that are ready to help meet this goal. Andrew Carpenter, CEO of the Structural Timber Association said at the recent Labour Party Conference that the sector can build a third of the required homes – 100,000 a year. We can. Read our latest blog, Timber Frame Buildings – The Future Homes Standard, to see how timber frame meets new standards, including building fabric, sustainability, energy-efficiency, and carbon-savings, and why it IS the new standard material for building all future homes. https://lnkd.in/egPpynrC #timberframe #timberframebuilding #offsiteconstruction #sustainable #housebuilding #structuraltimber #newhomes #futurehomesstandard #buildingstandards #ukconstruction
