I write about the struggles I face as a recent college graduate and the lessons my journey has taught me | Seeking positions in executive communications and content marketing
Them: "What job are you looking for?" Me: "It goes by many names..." -Speechwriter -Executive Communications Specialist -Leadership Communications Specialist -Head of CEO Communications -Public Affairs Operator -Public Relations Officer -Professional Word Writer (made this one up but feels closest to the truth) And so on. There are more names for the position I want than there are Marvel movies, which makes applying for positions tricky. I can't just set a LinkedIn alert and have all the right jobs in my feed. And the titles themselves often mean nothing. They're just words strung together meant to sound fancier than they are. I guess esoteric positions come with esoteric titles. Maybe once I get my first job in the field things will be more clear. For now, back to sifting through sand looking for pebbles. #DailyStruggle #JobHunt #Communications

I'm a public relations consultant my specialty is female and mom run businesses, as well as businesses with an Italian focus when I send pitches to reporters, writers or editors, these are some of my go to tips: Do your research make it personal show them you've put in the effort don't send a pitch which has clearly been copy and pasted let them know why you think this pitch may work for them tell them you're familiar with their work and thought this could be of interest if it's timely, make that clear timely pieces give a sense of urgency you want whoever you are pitching to know WHY you choose them put in the effort, it will make all the difference

As we get bigger, This has to happen. Each department needs to be more defined. When we were small, we didn't have clear roles of who did what. We didn't have enough people to divide up the work, so everyone was involved in every bit of the business. But as we've grown, we've had to redesign our departments. So everyone knows what bits they do, although there still is an element of helping with everything. This is why we're hiring a show writer who will sit under the writing team. They're going to work real closely with the strategy and production pieces of what we do. But, as the department grows, they can teach the other writers their skills, too. Which means everyone in the team can do more. And this goes for the whole team. As we grow and add more specialised skills, everyone can learn new skills, too. And the entire team gets stronger.

Conversations are miraculous. Healing, too. Firm believer. I exercise creativity through audio, video, and thought images. I embed storytelling into all forms of communication. I function as a content writer.
Hurts to see companies hiring writers at the budget of monthly munching outings. Calculate your weekend spending and accessories and fancy social status on how the world is going straight to hell. You praise talent. You prick talented hearts. You quote great people and put yourself in the league next to them. Your talent is never public. It is always in the dark and dangerous. There is no harm in being who you are. Stop preaching what you never aim to emulate at a financial loss. #creative #hiring #leadership

Product Manager | Entrepreneur | Small-Time Filmmaker | Driving Product Innovation & Growth | User-Focused products 🚀
There's no such thing as a perfect resume. I really don't see the need to make tens of dozens of resumes for every single position you're applying for. You're just burning yourself out writing these different resumes. If you want to be a video producer, editor, videographer/cinematographer, screenwriter, director, etc: You need one thing: Your reel or portfolio. You want to be a multi-media journalist: You need one resume (portfolio attached) If you want to be an engineer or PM: You need one resume (portfolio attached) If you want to be __ lawyer or ___ doctor: You need only one resume. Resume's are never perfect and neither are people. We're only human. A resume is a document where you're showcasing the best work you've ever done up until that point and shows room for growth. Have one resume. Show that you can learn and grow.

Question for Public Relations folks: What are you looking for when you're hiring a new PR professional? And, what is the difference between the hiring process in Journalism vs. PR? Also, what writing samples would you recommend for submission for a PR job if they ask for it?
