On Tuesday, our Lausanne team enjoyed the glorious weather, live music and good company of their industry colleagues at the BakerHicks sponsored Biopôle Lausanne campus summer after work event. The gathering enabled employees from the 140 life sciences organisations based on the campus to network and build connections in a social setting. It was great to see so many colleagues there and we hope everyone enjoyed the event as much as we did. #design #engineering #projectdelivery #lifesciences #team #teamwork #networking #event

Four day long Kick-Off meeting at the Wuppertal Institute: How do we anchor sustainability in the performing arts? With project partners from Italy, Slovenia, Latvia, Austria and Germany. From the 22nd to the 25th of April 2024, the international project team of the GREENSTAGE project came together at the Wuppertal Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie gGmbH to get to know each other, discuss the upcoming work packages and milestones and lay the foundations for the collaboration. In addition to project management and getting to know each other, the main focus lay on the presentation and joint development of a self-analysis tool for the sustainability assessment of cultural institutions: in a two-day workshop, the Wuppertal Institute project team presented an initial draft of the SAPA tool (Sustainability Assessment for the Performing Arts), wich is to be developed in the project. The workshop offered the opportunity to have the tool tested and evaluated by the practice partners in order to further develop it together. The GREENSTAGE project (2024-2027) will address urgent environmental challenges in the performing arts, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the transition to resource-efficient and circular practices. The aim is to empower the performing arts sector in Europe to integrate environmental protection into their practices and make the transition to a circular economy. Social, economic and cultural aspects are also to be considered in an integrated manner. In addition to the CO2 and material footprint caused by theatre operations, a special focus will also be placed on the handprint (positive sustainability effects). In other words, the contribution that art and culture can make to a socio-ecological transformation by transferring the topic of sustainability through theatre productions and content. When talking about complex and nuanced environmental issues, it is crucial to engage stakeholders so you can consider the range of people who will be impacted. Kudos to our summer intern, Jade Devriendt, who developed this infographic to explain some of the many stakeholder interests around menhaden–a small but critically important species that creates a huge ripple effect throughout the ecosystem and the economy. What other menhaden stakeholders would you add? #stakeholderengagement #environmentalcommunication #menhaden

On Monday we took part in the annual Job Forum of the JungChemikerForum (JCF) der Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker e.V. (GDCh) at the Wechloy Campus of the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg. The theme of the event was “Chemical Perspectives in the Northwest”. The inspiring discussions and many questions at our stand showed us how important such events are – not only for students, but also for us as an employer: • Direct communication: Presenting our company in person gives us the opportunity to authentically communicate our corporate culture, values and goals. • Talent search: We can get in direct contact with highly qualified and motivated young people. • Employer brand: Through our presence and commitment, we show our interest in the next generation of professionals and strengthen our special relationship with the University of Oldenburg and the Department of Chemistry. • Feedback and Trends: We get direct feedback from students about the perception of our company and we can exchange about current topics and trends in chemistry. • Network building: We get in touch not only with potential own employees, but also with potential future customers and are already looking forward to the future cooperation. • Innovations and ideas: The exchange with young, fresh talents gives us new perspectives and challenges us to expand innovative ideas. It was nice for us to see that the chemical industry is full of curious and talented young people. #kraemer #universitätoldenburg #chemistry #sustainability

🚀 Energizing Exchange with Young Talents! 🚀 During my recent Quito site visit, I had the pleasure of meeting with a group of talented young talents. The energy in the room was palpable as we delved into discussions about career development and the exciting challenges of working across diverse cultures with Pablo Sanchez and Benoite Delaunoy (global OpEx experts). We explored the nuances of collaborating with colleagues from different backgrounds. These young engineers shared their experiences and insights, reminding me of the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard. In these sessions with young talents, a recurrent question often pops up, how to have great and impactful professional careers? here my 5cts, despite I think there is not a secret recipe, I identified two common ingredients based on my own and others experience, first to know yourself so you can identify your strengths and align your professional choices with them and secondly to work on something that passionate you. These two ingredients don’t guarantee a great career (what ever it means) but increase enormously the odds you continuously feel satisfied with it, and this is extremely important because it is more relevant the journey than the final destination. I’m thrilled to see the results of the successful collaboration between Grünenthal and the University of San Francisco. Top students from their engineering and chemistry programs now have the opportunity to join us for their thesis projects. And guess what? The first wave of students has already transitioned into full-time Grünenthal employees! 🎉 As we continue to bridge academia and industry, I’m excited to see fresh ideas and perspectives infusing our projects. These young minds are the future of pharmaceutical innovation, and I’m confident that their contributions will drive us forward. 🙌 Thank You, Young Talents! To the brilliant minds I met—thank you for your passion, curiosity, and dedication. Let’s keep pushing boundaries and making a difference together! #Grünenthal #OperationalExcellence #Innovation #CareerDevelopment #CulturalDiversity

🌍 What Does Frugal Innovation Mean? 🌍 Frugal innovation is all about meeting needs in the simplest and most resource-efficient way possible. It’s about achieving more with less—focusing on sustainability and reducing environmental impact. According to Wikipedia, frugal innovation promotes smart, streamlined solutions that use minimal resources while maximizing value. 🚀 The Citeuropass Programme exemplifies this approach, empowering European students from universities like Grenoble (UGA, France), Banska Bystrica (UMB, Slovakia), Sofia (NBU, Bulgaria), Iasi (Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Romania), and Bratislava (EU, Slovakia). Through collaboration with the Nemeton biolab and Kenwright Consulting, these students are creating impactful, eco-conscious solutions. Their mission? To rethink existing solutions and reduce their carbon footprint in a frugal way. Innovation is measured by how much the new solution improves environmental impact—less footprint, more sustainability! 🌱 🔧 5 projects have already been launched, with 3 focused on air and 2 on water. These initiatives are a huge step forward for both the environment and society. 📅 Want to learn more? Visit the Citeuropass exhibition, open until September 30th at the MACI (Saint Martin d'Hères campus, Grenoble, France), and explore these groundbreaking projects!
