Specifically designed for dual-fuel vessels with DP2/DP3 dynamic positioning requirements, this system enhances fuel efficiency and reduces emissions by enabling safe closed-bus DP operation. Energy Storage Solutions (ESS): We equipped a heavy-duty pipelay/construction vessel and diving support vessels with our ESS system, enabling peak shaving, spinning reserve, and ramp-rate control. In case you missed it: Innovation in wind energy has been one of the main pillars driving the upscale of the sector, enabling better components, larger and stronger turbines, faster and more cost-effective logistics, but what about its integration into tenders? Innovative approaches in tender designs can have a major impact on facilitating a successful rollout of the sector. According to Ireen Geerbex, Market Development Director NL at Swedish multinational offshore wind developer Vattenfall, one of the key elements might be extending the five-year deadline from obtaining a permit to constructing an offshore wind farm to seven years.

Eurowind Energy will supply clean electricity to Arla Foods in Denmark after the two companies signed a new 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Under the agreement, Arla Foods has secured 60,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually from two upcoming Eurowind Energy parks. The volume of electricity supplied under the agreement is equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 15,000 Danish households. The new PPA builds on an earlier agreement signed in 2022, when Arla committed to a 10-year power sales contract with Eurowind Energy from the Nørre Økse Sø park. With the addition of the latest agreement, Arla will purchase close to 2 TWh of renewable electricity from Eurowind Energy’s projects over the contract period. “Arla is a good example of how buying green electricity is a simple and effective way towards greater climate neutrality for a company,” said Jesper Schaumburg-Düring, Commercial Director at Eurowind Energy. “We continue to expand our many upcoming parks and are thus an obvious partner for companies like Arla that are ambitious when it comes to climate goals.” #cleanenergy

Vattenfall and BASF have partnered with Vestas to supply and service 112 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines for the Nordlicht offshore wind projects in the German North Sea. This agreement focuses on the use of low-emission steel in manufacturing parts of the turbine towers, significantly reducing their carbon footprint. The Nordlicht project, comprising Nordlicht 1 and 2, will feature 68 turbines in Nordlicht 1 and 44 in Nordlicht 2. These V236 turbines, the most powerful on the offshore market, will collectively produce electricity for 1.6 million households from 2028. The top sections of 56 out of the 112 towers will use low-emission steel, reducing the carbon footprint of these sections by 66% compared to conventional steelmaking. This innovative steel is made from 100% recycled steel scrap melted in an electric arc furnace powered entirely by wind energy, demonstrating a significant advancement in eco-friendly manufacturing practices. The Nordlicht project not only represents a significant expansion in offshore wind capacity but also sets a precedent for the use of green steel in large-scale renewable energy projects. Great news for sustainable energy enthusiasts! 🌱💨 Ofgem has issued a green light for Statkraft AS's 48-MW Mossy Hill wind farm in the enchanting Shetland Islands. With 12 high-functioning turbines set to take stage outside Lerwick, this wind farm isn't just a triumph of green engineering; it's a beacon of hope for renewable energy's future. The Mossy Hill wind farm is promising, bringing eco-friendly power equivalent to the annual electricity demands of over 34,000 homes. That's a significant leap towards a greener, more sustainable UK. What's more, this project is still in the budding stages, with the pre-construction phase humming with potential. Not to be overlooked is the project's journey, initially developed by Peel Wind Farms Ltd and now under the expertise of Statkraft since last April. Along with the Beaw Field scheme, Mossy Hill is poised to become an integral part of Shetland's renewable energy tapestry. The project also plans to integrate a new substation, connecting to a robust 132-kV transmission network in the works. Wind turbine manufacturer Enercon is joining forces with Salzgitter and TM Group to produce a lower-emissions steel tower – the first of its kind in Germany. Enercon will collaborate with Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, a subsidiary of Salzgitter, and TM Group company SMB Schönebecker Maschinenbau GmbH for the project, which they say marks an important step towards achieving more sustainability in the production processes of wind turbines.

Did you know that Copenhagen Energy is not only focused on developing new greenfield projects? We are also engaged in repowering existing wind farms to boost their efficiency and output. In fact, over the summer, we won the latest EEG auction in Germany for our Peckelsheim repowering project!   But what does repowering actually involve? Let’s break it down.   In essence, the concept of repowering refers to the process of replacing old wind turbines with new ones. It can be that all old turbines are taken down or just a few, making place for modern-age wind turbines. The goal of repowering is to utilize existing space, while increasing the energy output and improving the overall efficiency.   Back in 2021, we acquired a wind farm in Peckelsheim, originally featuring three 750 kW turbines. After analyzing and optimizing the site’s operations, our team secured the necessary permits to move forward with repowering.   Here’s where the transformation happens: We will be decommissioning two of the old turbines and replace them with a 4.3 MW turbine, standing at an impressive 230 meters tall.   The result? A 600% increase in clean energy production from the site!
