This episode we have Dr Toni Liu back! Listen to episode 2 to hear our first chat about people-pleasing and how to beat it. This time we are chatting all about those tricky emotions surrounding leaving medicine. Dr Toni Liu is a physician from the US who left medicine to be a cartoonist, digital nomad, and self-love and relationship coach.
We discuss:
- The emotions we both felt when contemplating leaving medicine
- What came up when we left full-time clinical medicine (it wasn’t all sunshine straight away)
- How we can navigate those tricky emotions and pursue our dreams

Also, I would say just a lot more self trust in that I am a capable person. I'm not a perfect person, letting go of the old perfectionistic ways of being and black and white thinking and all or nothing. But just yeah, just this trust that I'll be OK. It's like you know, if truly it was the hugest mistake to leave medicine, there's always a way to go back, even if I need to do a little bit of redoing residency or volunteering stuff. If truly I find yeah, that's by calling because I am passionate about. Statements, health and all of that. It's like I could see myself maybe later on volunteering in different places around the world. It's it's kind of just, yeah, maybe it's not so much taking life less seriously, but just knowing that there are, it's just it's so much more expansive and there's so many more opportunities and possibilities than I thought when I first started on this journey. And that's just given me so much more peace and trust and yeah, just like that, but really that confidence in myself.
