NFPA 1900, a new standard, applies to any fire apparatus purchased beginning in January 2024. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has introduced a new, broader standard that encompasses the content previously contained in separate standards for automotive, wildland fire, aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles, and automotive ambulances. The new standard is a soft-covered book containing 375 pages and incorporating 34 chapters and 10 indexes. Misinterpretation of EN 469:2020 changes for Fire Fighter outfits with the Wheel Mark. EMSA recommendation (not mandatory) to meet EN 469:2020 “level 2” is creating confusion with the Y2 moisture barrier protection, and this is spreading out misinformation stating all Wheel Marked (MED) fire fighter outfits must be marked mandatorily as below detailed, or to be replaced before 25/08/2024: -Xf2 Heat Protection (correct) -Xr2 Radiation Protection (correct) -Y2 Water Penetration (incorrect) -Z2 Water Vapour Resistance (incorrect) Y1 Water Penetration and Z1 Water Vapour Resistance are also acceptable for Level 2 applications according to EN 469:2020; therefore, existing outfits Wheel Marked as Y1 and Z1 are not required to be replaced. It’s also remarkable many professional firefighters choose Y1 outfits (without external membrane) instead Y2 because the heat stress is much lower during fire fighting operations. Alternatively to EN 469:2020, the EN 1486:2007 and ISO 15538:2001 (Level 2) are acceptable standards to obtain the Wheel Mark (MED approval). #safetyatwork #fireservice #firesafety #fireprotection #firefighting #maritimesafety

In numerous road safety inspections, we've uncovered a strong correlation between the frequency and severity of crashes reported by police and those determined through star rating scores. The initial curve illustrates the anticipated count of fatal and serious injuries per km based on an iRAP assessment, incorporating road attributes and flow/speed data. Contrarily, the second curve represents the actual number of fatal and serious injuries reported by state officials per kilometer. Not only does this correlation affirm the reliability of our assessments, but it also highlights a more evenly distributed prevalence of risky conditions across stations #roadsafety #iRAP #riskassessment #crashdata
