Isn't it great that there are some many options out there for fantastic Sparkling wine! Included in these options are the high quality sparklers form the UK. The term sparkling wine most recently, in my opinion, has been used to associate wine that is of lower quality than Champagne but as we all know that is not true. There are many high quality sparkling wines from all over the world that can rival the quality of Champagne. And just because a wine is Champagne does not mean that it is immediately superior quality. You can find amazing Sparkling Wine made in the traditional method from Franciacorta, from CA, and yes from the UK like Ridgeview Wine Estate. Ridgeview's award winning wines, served at Royal engagements and more will amaze you! Coming soon from Ridgeview and US agent Vinedos Imports, and represented by me will be the Bloomsbury Brut NV, Fitzrovia Rose Brut NV and the Blancs de Blanc. Elegance, finesse, fruit-forward are all words to describe their wines. As they say at Ridgeview, Life is for Celebrating - Cheers to the rise of Sparkling Wines of Quality - so check out the article below from Wine-Searcher #sparklingwine #traditionalmethod #britishsparklingwine #ridgeviewwineestate #uksparklingwine https://lnkd.in/eveahw5w

Wine IQ: How is a vintner different than a winery and vineyard? Vanessa Robledo, owner of Vintne’sr Diary, was gracious enough to explain the differences to me during our conversation at the inaugural La Onda music festival in Napa. A vintner grows the crop as well as produces and markets the wine. Whereas a vineyard only grows grapes and a winery produces wine. Those in the cheese world , may consider a vintner similar to a farmstead cheese. Vanessa clarified this distinction to me with great patience and knowledge as well as discussing her vision. Vintner’s Diary (Napa, CA) is a third generation female owned business. It is the only Latina vintner and produces a delightful Rose’, which continues to find its way on menus, in homes, and venues like La Onda. Vanessa explained the choice of the word Diary is specific to the story she is sharing. Wine and the food industry are paired closely and are a great example of how 1+1=3. Whether paired with cheese, fruit, or your favorite meal, Rose’ is flexible and versatile. Napa, Sonoma, or anyone of the other great wine producing regions across the USA, are great destinations to get to know the story and the people behind the wine. #vintnersdiary #laonda #wine #foodindustry @foodservicexpert.com

Langtons Classification of Australian Wine: Eighth edition is “a dramatic shake-up” // The latest edition of Australia's answer to the 1855 Classification has had an infusion of new, cooler blood. Australian fine-wine auction house and merchant Langtons has unveiled the latest, eighth edition of the Langtons Classification of Australian Wine, with the company describing the 100-strong selection of Australia’s most in-demand fine wines as “the most dramatic shake-up” of the influential list since its first edition in 1990. The new list, which comprises wines that have been released for at least ten vintages and which “have a strong track record in the secondary market,” has been simplified, with the three tiers of the previous edition (published in 2018) replaced by two: all 100 wines are now “Classified” with a top tier of 19 wines given the title “First Classified”—a nod to the first growths of the 1855 Bordeaux Classification which has always been the inspiration for the Langtons Classification. The El Dorado AVA produces what the sommeliers say they like about European wines. Grapes that retain acid into ripening. This happens best in the Mesic temperature regime, above about 1,800 feet elevation. https://lnkd.in/gba4WDtE

Check out this article on Wine and Song about sparkling wines. #wine #wineandsongchicago William Gilmore
Check out my blog post on Bubbly Essentials! People always ask me about sparkling wines. Sparkling wines contain carbonation that occurs either naturally, as part of the wine making process, or is artificially introduced. Sparkling wines are usually light in color, but may also be rosé or even red. Champagne is a sparkling wine, but only wines made in the Champagne District in France are properly entitled to be called Champagne. Every other wine with bubbles is sparkling wine.

A white wine with annualised returns of 20-40% The Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is considered one of the greatest white wine lables on the planet. It costed closer to £1000 a bottle just 10 years a go. Today a bottle costs £10,000-30,000, depending on the vintage. According to our data there are currently a grand total of 4 bottles for sale on the UK open market. Of any vintage. “Rare” doesnt quite cut it. 🍇 The producer, Domaine d'Auvenay is rumoured to produce “just 10,000 bottles” annually according to IG WINES. 🍇 The domaine consists of under four hectares, spread over sixteen different appellations. 🍇 The annualised return of these wines over the last 7 years is 20-40% depending on the vintage. Truly remarkable. Can this kind of price appreciation continue? At WineFi 🍷 our take is that wine portfolios are best when diversified across price ranges. Capturing both ends of the investment-grade wine market, the up-and-comers and the legends, of which d'Auvenay is certainly one.

The Bordeaux En Primeur is here - I will be posting some analysis over the coming days/weeks but thought it was worth explaining what En Primeur actually is first. 'En primeur' roughly translates as 'the first', referring to wines available during their first release – typically whilst the wines are still maturing in barrel in the winemaker's cellar. Buyers can secure an allocation of the newest vintage before they have been bottled. This is the first time the new release of Bordeaux wines hit the market, and the first time we see the level at which the producers are pricing them. It is often the most volatile time for the value of a wine as the market decides whether to embrace, or reject the price. Historically, getting an En Primeur allocation meant that you had purchased the wine at the best price possible, however in recent years there have been cases of the market rejecting the EP price, and we've seen wines trade below their release price fairly fast...
