Different plans for different brands.... Notes from a luxury (pre-gym) coffee break ☕ ☕ ☕ I really like this opening of the first Dior luxury spa retreat in an airport.... I would say that H.I.A is more than just an airport, it's a destination in itself, experiential, future thinking and with room to grow & innovate So Dior has the Spa concept, restaurants/beach club with Nammos Dubai and maybe more concepts on the way, Louis Vuitton the similar with restaurant and hotel concepts.... And then Hermes as I see it ..... exists in different areas of culture through its products ( Horizon, equestrian ) & association ( Foundation Hermes ) rather than increased footprint in other services ( Not sure what happened with the Blue Horse idea ? ) Not sure if one plan is better than the other, as it depends on the strategy and only time being the ultimate judge of an idea (and yes, total profit) #luxuryservices #viccrm #privateshopping

One year ago, Atlantis The Royal made headlines hosting #Beyonce for a mega concert. It rightfully generated a great amount of controversy many doubting the trajectory of the hotel and its luxury positioning. Even, we at CPP took a cautious approach especially that the property opened with limited operations – some dining venues and the Spa becoming operational later in the year. With the world facing an unprecedented crisis because of the post pandemic context (China’s dramatically slow recovery) and the 2 wars. Major destinations such as London, Paris and New York performed relatively well but, for many wealthy consumers and travellers, Dubai has been gaining ground thanks to its economic stance but also its perception as a major entertainment destination too. After a timid start with Valentino , Graff , Orlebar Brown and DOLCE&GABBANA & – Louis Vuitton Vuitton also opened a new store in Dubai at Atlantis The Royal, but much more confidently, with a tailor made concept that truly reflects Dubai’s positioning – not just its ‘regular’ retail selection but also an outdoor cafe and several installations for more exclusive collections such as high-jewellery and watches. What comes to your mind when you hear Made in Italy, British Luxury, Watches from Switzerland, Champagne of France, Savile Row bespoke, Argan oil of Morocco, Harris Tweed of Scotland? There are reputation and perception associated to any products coming from these geographical places. Kapferer (2015) argue that luxury production can be strongly tied to the skills of local artisans also known as craftsmanship and other resources linked to a geographical place due to its uniqueness. Each geographical place either a village, or country/nation has its own uniqueness. The uniqueness can become the ‘competitiveness’ power to boost the social and economic potentials of the place leading to more local job opportunities, and attracting tourists. Look at the prestigious luxury brands, most of them celebrate the art of craftsmanship, and the uniqueness of a place either acquiring a factory in that place to experience the skills and resources due to the reputation associated with it. But, celebrating the art of craftsmanship and creating a strong reputation of provenance comes with huge investment of time and resources. And no, it's not Palm Jumeirah! ⚽ Cristiano Ronaldo made real estate news in January when he reportedly acquired a Bulgari Ocean Mansion in Jumeirah Bay Island, estimated to be worth over AED 260MM (USD 70.8MM). 💸 Jumeirah Bay's desirability is so high that its prices eclipse those of older, more established high-net-worth communities, like Palm Jumeirah (see table). 🕵🏻♂️ So why has Jumeirah Bay become the obvious choice for the lucky segment of customers to whom money is no object? 👁️🗨️ Privacy: Not everyone is keen on having someone show up at their private beach in a stand-up paddle. Palm Jumeirah is home to mansions, but also beach clubs, bars, and the common folk that patronize them. Jumeirah Bay's only facilities open to visitors are Bulgari Resort's Cafe and Restaurants, which cater to an exclusive clientele that can afford 90dh for an espresso. ⛵ Exclusivity: Jumeirah Bay is like a small private island. Because all the homes are priced for an ultra-high net worth segment, you get the satisfaction of knowing that your neighbors share in your taste for caviar, champagne, and mega yachts. Did I mention there's a Bulgari Yacht Club? 📈 Appreciation: When you're a billionaire and you want something, you are significantly less sensitive to the cost, especially when supply is very limited. Why hasn't Palazzo Versace been able to find a buyer? Touted as one of Dubai's finest luxury hotels, the property appeared on the Emirates Auction website in May this year with a base price set at 1.34 billion AED. One would think that the stellar performance of the luxury property market post-COVID would ensure no shortage of buyers, especially coming into peak tourist season in the summer. Despite this, the minimum bid dropped to just above 1 billion AED due to a lack of bids. When even this discount failed to generate interest, the property was pulled from the auction website.
