Tuesday Tip! #Hiring for a new role? . . . If you’re hiring for a new position or a role you’ve never had in your company, it’s important to define what the position will entail first. Then, use a clear title based on the duties and tasks you laid out. Instead of “Product Guru” or “Happiness Coordinator,” use a more obvious title. “Inside Salesperson,” “HR Director,” “Marketing Manager,” etc.

Anybody can be an executive assistant, right? Its not that hard. Just sit someone in the chair and they'll figure it out. Yeah, maybe, with a bunch of ramp-up time and training. Even then, there are people who just don't have the right skill set or personality. Constant interruptions with new things that need to get done. Figuring out what actually is a priority when everything seems like its at the top. Jumping in to help with something you've never done before because it needs to get done. Knowing a little about everything because you're the first one people will ask. Hiring an EA may not be as sexy as hiring someone in marketing or sales, but we fill in the gaps. We are force multipliers. The experienced ones can hit the ground running upon hire and make an impact in the first days and weeks vs months.
