IF YOU CAN'T WIN LEGITIMATELY, SUBVERT THE VOTER True the Vote is a rightwing organization that trains people to challenge eligibility of people to vote. One "trained" person has submitted more than 2,000 challenges. How could this person know enough about 2,000 people to know whether they are eligible to vote? The idea is to remove as many people who might vote Democrat from the voter rolls as possible. True the Vote is a believer organization, that is, it believes the 2020 election lies that Republicans spout. A good samaritan should help True the Vote by challenging the eligibility of the founders, organizers, and staff of True the Vote to vote. https://lnkd.in/eWVtYUKe

📢 A new report from Transparency International UK calls for actionable reforms to appointment and conduct rules of the House of Lords aimed at reducing corruption risks in the second chamber. 💡 Transparency International UK research found almost 25% all nominations from political parties were political donors between 2013 and 2023 were political donors, who donated more than £58 million to various parties. 💡 12 appointees had given over £1 million or more with £54 million coming from these ‘super donors’ representing 92% of all donations from peers during this period. 💡 Although it is against the law to 'sell' peerages, there is a striking correlation between those donating to political parties and those awarded lifetime appointments in the House of Lords. ✔️ In this paper, Transparency International UK proposes a number reforms to rules around the appointment of new political and non-political peers, and regarding conduct and disciplinary processes for sitting members. 📝 Read the report at https://lnkd.in/e6vR-MQN ⭐ Congratulations to the Transparency International UK team involved in this research and related advocacy, including Steve Goodrich, Rose Whiffen, Jon Narcross, Rose Zussman, Jem Mills-Sheehy #transparencyinternationalUK #TIUK #report #houseoflords #reform #HoL

Ban party donors from being nominated to the House of Lords. All politicians, current and future, must commit to banning the promotion of party donors to the House of Lords. Why is this important? We are witnessing more and more party donors being elected to the second chamber, solely based on their financial contributions rather than merit or public service. This practice undermines the integrity of the House of Lords and erodes public trust in our democratic institutions. The appointment of party donors to the House of Lords perpetuates a system of privilege and undermines the principles of fairness and equality. It allows for undue influence in the legislative process and diminishes the voice of ordinary citizens. By prohibiting the nomination of party donors to the House of Lords, we can ensure that appointments are made based on merit, expertise, and a commitment to public service.
