Many community college students rely on financial aid to reach their educational goals. The Last Dollar Scholarship is a vital resource, and this year’s legislative session made it even better! As with last year, students must have a Student Aid Index (formerly Expected Family Contribution) of less than $20,000 according to their FAFSA form to qualify. The eligible programs have not changed and are here: https://lnkd.in/eknxZi4U. Additionally, students will be awarded for two years and will not need to reapply in the second year. This is an important change that will help students plan for their entire program and not have a sudden change. #IowaEducation #IAmALastDollarScholar #CCforIowa

THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Suffolk University made a lasting impact on me through friendships, mentors, lived experiences, and the world-class education that is still guiding my career. Hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom prepared me incredibly well not only for the tactical skills that my career in digital marketing requires but also in the power skills of communication, presentation, collaboration, and more that have allowed me to grow. On this Day of Giving, consider giving back to Suffolk, because Suffolk is preparing students for the real world. https://lnkd.in/eh6_BRG3
In honor of Suffolk University Day of Giving, we are so honored to share one of our favorite episodes of #TheComeUpPodcast featuring Morgan Robb - Suffolk University - Sawyer Business School Super Alum. A graduate from the Marketing Department at Sawyer Business School, Morgan was active in a number of initiatives throughout her college career. Working her way up through the ranks to President of the Suffolk University Student Government Association, Morgan was also involved in the Honors Council, Journey Program, Alternative Spring Breaks, and so much more. Interviewed by agency alumni Magdalyn Jackson, and current members Clarissa LaGasse and Samantha Todaro, Morgan talks about how the support she received at Suffolk, her coursework, and the overall community helped forge her path and shape her future. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE IMPORTANT During this stressful time of FAFSA delays, the need for scholarships for Suffolk students is more crucial than ever. Historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) face an uphill battle when it comes to accumulating substantial endowments. According to a joint survey by PGIM and the United Negro College Fund, HBCUs have much smaller endowments compared to Ivy League institutions and many public universities. This disparity poses a challenge to the financial stability and long-term growth of HBCUs. It's important to recognize this issue and work towards finding solutions that support and uplift these institutions. #HBCUs #HigherEducation #EndowmentDisparities https://lnkd.in/eUVKuAGt

So pleased to see the exceptional media coverage and support of the Raheem Sterling Foundation over the weekend highlighting our work with the #UniversityofManchester and #KingsCollegeLondon. The continuation of our fully-funded London and Manchester scholarship program is now in its second year. The initiative is designed to level the playing field by offering equal access to higher education, in direct response to the underrepresentation of black students from London and Greater Manchester areas who constitute just 8.5% of first-year undergraduate entrants in the UK. We are committed to alleviating financial strain, enabling young persons from under-represented backgrounds to truly maximise their talent in a chosen field. Our full-time mentorship programme also guarantees a vital support system across the 3-year terms. Guided by our #PowerOf7 strategy, we aim to inspire and support young people through education, employment, enterprise, community, creativity, leadership and social mobility Why This Initiative Matters #SocialMobility: We believe that every young person, regardless of their background, should have the chance to improve their opportunities, careers, and quality of life. Our initiatives are designed to remove obstacles and create pathways for success. #Community: From our collaboration with local schools to our international projects, we are dedicated to building safer, supportive communities. For example, our Community Kitchen at Ark Elvin Academy in Brent has brought families together, providing meals and fostering a spirit of togetherness. #Creativity: The ‘Making of Me’ project, in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery, has given young people the chance to explore their creativity and develop skills for future careers in the arts. #Leadership: Through initiatives like #BrentGoesGlobal, we are equipping the next generation with leadership skills and global perspectives, preparing them to become the leaders of tomorrow. #TheBoyFromBrent #SocialMobility #YouthEmpowerment #Education #Community #Creativity #Leadership #Enterprise #PowerOf7 For more details on our projects and impact, please visit https://lnkd.in/eT_eYSNz or contact me here chris@raheemsterlingfoundation.org
