Hi, I'm Greg Taylor, Partner and Head of Banking and Finance at MHA. I'm joined today by Tim Wilkinson, Commercial Broking Director for the Midlands Region and we're going to be talking about asset based lending. That there are more asset based. I'll also add this little phrase in there as well, asset backed lenders. So when when we hear a BL, let's not automatically assume that it's asset based lending, it can quite often just be asset backed. Whereas what we've seen over the over the years is the rise of some of those challenger asset. Based lenders and what's the difference here is that the asset based lender will look a little bit more beyond the asset base of the business and those assets are typically property, plant, machinery, receivables, IE the invoices or the applications for payment if it's in a contracting environment. And stock, yeah, what that looks like, um, and what an asset based lender might well do is go, we really like the, we really like the cash generation of the business. We really like the management team. And we'll go a little bit more. We'll do a term loan, a cash flow piece as it made more commonly be known that could be under the the RLS scheme or the growth guarantee scheme, which is probably. Soon, soon become and and. The and it's not, it's a bit like any finance solution. It's not all about the rate. Because it it's how much cash? Can be generated, and I think this is probably one of the key bits that we go into as broke as within MHA is to just understand how much cash is needed. And then look at the basket of assets that may well be there for stocks, the plan, the machinery, the, the freehold property, the receivables. What's there? What's needed? What can be generated? And it's then a case of looking at the individual lenders and. Getting that holistic view as to a what it costs, but be what the structures are, what the security structures are. Yeah. So it's really interesting. It takes longer, as we know, than a simple property transaction or a simple asset finance transaction or a relatively simple receivables transaction, even though you're bringing those components altogether. There's a lot more that goes into it. And I think, and again, that's where the likes of ourselves can really sort of hold the hold the hand, put the arm around the shoulder, help the client, help the Thunder, Yeah, funders. Through the process with the client and I, I think there's as I say that there's, there's a good number of. Funders out there. It's getting the right ones to the table early on. Yeah. And that's about relationship with the client as well, because obviously with an ACL lender, they're more day-to-day with the client than a property transaction. Absolutely, where you just buy it. And that's a really good point. And I think it's something that I see numerous times in an asset based or asset backed lending proposition. It's like, well, they're asking for a lot of information, aren't they? They want the inside leg measurement and it's like, well, yeah, if you got that, it would be handy. But but the reality is that the, it, it is more of a relationship. It, it is the bank manager of old, yeah, from way back then. Because you're not just getting an overdraft, you're getting a working capital solution for the business using numerous asset classes. So it's going to be. It's going to be a more intensive than a standalone property piece. Yeah, but it is, I hate this phrase, but it is standard. Yeah. So they're not just asking all these questions because it's you. Yeah, Yeah, they're asking it. It's part of the process. And what we do very early on is talk through that time frame. You know, if, if a business needs cash within a couple of weeks, then yes, an asset based lending proposition might be the right way to go, but it's going to take more than a couple of weeks. Do it, Can we? Do little bits of it, yeah. To bring it into the in, into the hole and again that that's the process that we run with the client and understand not only how much cash is needed, but when it's needed.
