Unpacked insights on culture-based economic development with Khazanah Nasional Berhad at Tea Talk session last week. Presented on “Discovering Malaysia’s Hidden Gem: Insights from a culture-based economic development approach” Key take aways: 1. Challenges faced on why Malaysia’s hidden gems of historic sites remained hidden. Many visited the renowned places around the world and yet many are unaware of the hidden gem in lesser-known sites waiting to be explored and discovered in our country. Some even called them, the Northern Mysteries of Malaysia. 2. Each place has an important story to tell, and its buildings, artefacts and intangible culture connect us to the past. 3. We dived into the meta narrative of more than 1 million years old of history in Northern Malaysia since prehistoric times (Stone Age) till Iron Age and today. We initiated 61 projects to unearth stories for the public and reveal their potential by collaborating with the locals. Intriguing questions on the earliest human presence, how do we reimagine early civilisation, how do we convince all stakeholders to buy in into stories and narrative and what we are going to do next. Definitely excited to discuss with Khazanah as we deepen our efforts in Northern Malaysia. Think City #history #culture #mystery #hiddengem

Pekalongan, Lasem, and Trusmi are some of the batik-producing areas in Indonesia. But have you ever heard of batik produced in a place called Paoman? 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗸 𝗣𝗮𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 is an original creation of the people of Indramayu, a regency on the north coast of West Java. This batik tells the story of the Indramayu people through its distinctive coastal motifs and marine elements. Culture is truly the soul of a nation. If its soul is lost to time and neglected by the next generation, then the body of this nation will slowly crumble–a great nation because of its cultural richness. Through this writing, I hope that the Indonesian people can further appreciate the cultural wealth of the various regions in Indonesia, and become more aware of the importance of preserving the existence of the diverse cultures in this country, for the nation of Indonesia itself🇮🇩 Because, if not us, then who will take action?✍️🏻 #BatikPaoman #SupportLocal #SaveLocalCulture #PreciousHeritage #CitizenReporter

Happy National Batik Day! Today, we celebrate the rich cultural heritage of batik, a symbol of Indonesian identity and craftsmanship. Did you know that Indonesian batik has been recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity? This global recognition not only honors our tradition but also highlights the values that batik represents: creativity, patience, and attention to detail. Just like the intricate patterns of batik are woven with care and precision, so too are our professional relationships and careers. Every thread in batik represents dedication and artistry—qualities that resonate with us as professionals striving for excellence. As the famous quote says, "Excellence is not an act, but a habit." Batik reminds us that success in our careers, much like the art of batik itself, is built through consistent effort, focus, and perseverance. Whether we’re working on complex legal deals, managing projects, or fostering collaboration across cultures, batik reminds us of the importance of craftsmanship and balance in all that we do. Let’s wear our batik with pride, not just as a fashion statement, but as a reflection of the work we do and the principles we stand for. #NationalBatikDay #Batik #ProfessionalLife #CulturalHeritage #Indonesia #Excellence #UNESCOHeritage

Batik is one of Indonesia's cultural heritages which has been recognized by UNESCO as a Humanitarian Heritage for Oral and Intangible Culture (Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity) on October 2, 2009. Batik is a technique, symbol and culture related to hand-dyed cotton and silk fabric originating from Indonesia. The development of batik was carried out during the Mataram kingdom and then the Solo and Yogyakarta kingdoms. Batik was first introduced to the international world by President Soeharto while attending a United Nations conference. Apart from that, many world leaders are proud to wear batik, such as Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Ronald Reagan, and many more. Batik as a fashion product is not only popular domestically. Even abroad, batik is popular. The United States is the country that imports the most batik from Indonesia. Apart from America, Germany, Japan and South Korea are destinations for batik exports. #indvestime #batam #indonesia
