So, of the few players in the space and the looming Meta version that may (or may not) come.... these guys have the form factor dialed in the most. Feels like if they can introduce frame options to meet a person's sense of style, they can truly launch the market. Full color displays are inevitable, but form factor seems to be the real dam holding back the adoption. Beyond that, loyalty might be the other thing holding back purchase. I know I havent bought, bc Im scared to see an even BETTER version hit the market in 6mos. Trade in program (like mobile phones) could help!! Industry looking, I'd love to see how we can connect this device to innovative ecom platforms like BigCommerce, Shopify, or maybe the play is Feedonomics? But there is value in the Showrooming experience as folks window shop. Having the app be a turn key config inside the platforms would be a solid way to demonstrate that future outlook.

New categories for the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève - GPHG in 2024 are going to be challenging and eco-friendly. Since its inception, the GPHG has featured nominations across multiple categories, some of which have been introduced or modified over the years. In 2024, after two years of existence, the "Mechanical Clock" category is on hiatus, following the Grand Prix's rotation policy, making room for another watchmaking quest. The new "Time Only" category will welcome classic timepieces that have two or three hands with no additional complications. And with this innovation comes the spirit of true competition. Because when you are constrained by simplicity, how do you distinguish yourself? Will there be participants that reach the excellence of Philippe Dufour's creations? And if so, how do we select the crème de la crème? It will also be interesting to see how the work of established brands will fare against independent watchmakers. Another alteration for the 2024 edition is the redefinition of the "Petite Aiguille" category, now open to watches priced between CHF 3,000 and CHF 10,000. But perhaps the most significant change is the introduction of the Eco-Innovation Prize. All competing timepieces will be evaluated on their alignment with sustainability objectives. As customer concern for this issue grows, highlighted by the Deloitte report, this subtle yet significant shift may transform both the presentation of timepieces and the selection criteria.
