🌎"Who should be involved in a business's climate journey?"🌎 We know there's no quick fix-all to a business's climate concerns - a climate journey is, after all, a journey. It's a consistent process of learning, adapting and asking questions. This year, in aid of #EarthDay - and more broadly #EarthMonth - we're committed to curiosity; continuing to ask and answer questions as best we can. Alongside celebrating our recently validated SBTI targets, we are taking the opportunity to actively involve and educate our employees, including: demystifying climate change, setting some basic office expectations and offering ideas as to what ‘great’ sustainable office practices might look like. 🌎 Wrapping up an incredible Climate Week NYC! 🌍 As I sit in Highline Park reflecting on a week buzzing with energy and ideas, I feel more inspired than ever to be part of this global movement of like-minded individuals. 🌱 What made this week stand out was the focus — the discussions were incredibly specific, drilling down on implementation. From advancing how capital markets can incentivize corporate climate action, preparing businesses for adaptation & resilience, and strengthening carbon accounting systems to making carbon markets work, the willingness to turn talk into action was undeniable. What struck me most was the atmosphere of collaboration. The eagerness to listen, learn, and work together gave me so much confidence in the progress we can achieve. As a colleague said yesterday: "While solving sustainability challenges is incredibly complex, let's ensure we focus on what we can do each day to move in the right direction!" New York Climate Week is an important opportunity each year for leaders, change makers, decision-makers and civil society representatives to reaffirm their commitment to global sustainability. No country, corporation, or individual can drive the transition to a sustainable economy alone—success will demand diverse, thoughtful partnerships and open, cross-sector dialogue that fosters collaboration and innovation. As we prepare for this year’s Climate Week, we are reflecting on our delivery and learnings from last year, which we look forward to continuing in a year where the arts, culture and entertainment are more present in the climate conversation than ever before. Last year, Boster Group was delighted to partner with a globally renowned cultural institution to enhance its sustainability partnerships and engagement. The collaboration focused on leveraging the organisation’s unique position within culture to create an open space for cross-sector discussion around both broad and specific sustainability challenges. We developed a three-year partnership strategy, identified a selection of highly targeted engagement opportunities, and made key recommendations for potential partners, facilitating direct connections to create real impact. This effort helped the institution and its partners engage with new audiences - especially private sector entities who are leading the charge to find climate solutions, and government officials working to create efficient and well-funded sustainable policies - through sustainability-driven thought leadership engagement and impactful Chatham House Rule discussions. By fostering a collaborative environment that sparked new partnerships and shared solutions, we empowered leaders from diverse sectors to accelerate their sustainability goals. Ultimately, we are championing the role of culture in inspiring climate action, a vital piece of the climate change puzzle which has been absent for far too long. This New York Climate Week, we encourage you to seek out connections across different sectors and organisations. This week, I am proud to be part of Climate Action Week Sydney, standing alongside countless determined individuals (including my sister Tania Leimbach, PhD) united by a common goal: to make the coming decades livable and to ensure future generations look back proudly, knowing we took action. Together, we are not just participants; we are catalysts for change, working tirelessly to create a sustainable future. It's funny how we often perceive ourselves as separate from "the natural world." Yet, this perceived separation is an illusion. In reality, we are intricately woven into the fabric of nature. Our actions ripple through the natural world, impacting everything from the air we breathe to the stability of our climate. Recognising this interconnectedness is crucial. By understanding that the human sphere and the natural world are not separate entities but parts of a single, delicate ecosystem, we can better appreciate the urgency and significance of our actions. Climate Action Week is a powerful reminder of this interconnectedness. It is a call to action, urging us to bridge the gap between our human-made environments and the natural world. It's about more than just reducing our carbon footprint; it's about reimagining our role on this planet. It’s about fostering a relationship with nature that is symbiotic and sustainable, rather than extractive and destructive. This week, as I join the swell of people committed to climate action, I am inspired by the collective energy and dedication around me. From grassroots organisers to policymakers, from students to scientists, every individual effort contributes to a larger movement that is unstoppable. We are not alone in this fight; we are part of a global community that understands the stakes and is ready to act.
