The survey covered compensation and benefits, training and career progression, work-life balance, and company culture. During my time with BJC, I can wholeheartedly speak to these topics in great detail and elaborate on the significance it carries in my life. As a father of four and husband to a beautiful wife, my greatest struggle has been work-life balance. It's tough to find the energy to be the man I need to be at home, while also being the best I can be on the job. Here is where BJC makes it easy and realistic. I've found that life is easier when your job encourages you to focus on your family. Being a parent is tough, being a husband is tough, being an employee is tough. No matter where you are or what you're doing, life can be tough. But, working in a place that helps you balance life and all it encompasses will have a remarkable impact on your wellbeing. Norristown Hospitality Center's Director Attends "Improving Health Equity Through Data Exchange" Conference Sunanda Charles, Director of the Norristown Hospitality Center, participated in HealthShare Exchange's (HSX) conference on 'Improving Health Equity Through Data Exchange' yesterday! The keynote speaker was Valerie Arkoosh, MD, MPH, Secretary of the The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. HSX is a critical organization working to improve healthcare access in our region. This conference focused on how secure data exchange can help address health disparities and ensure everyone receives the care they need. By working together, we can create a holistic approach to healthcare! This means combining quality medical care with the vital social services offered by the Norristown Hospitality Center and other organizations. Together, we can address the underlying social determinants of health that often impact undeserved communities. It was great to host our "Spring Series" event in our EY Cork Office last Wednesday April 24th which focused on the area of population based planning for health. We were fortunate to be joined by some great speakers Brian Turner Andy Phillips as well as an insightful panel Miin Alikhan, MHSc CHE Dr. Jennifer Martin Denise Cahill. The discussion really engaged a full house of attendees. Some key takeaways from the evening: 💡 The implementation of the Health Regions presents an ideal juncture from which to meaningfully explore what we can achieve in the area of Population Based Planning in the short and longer terms 🔑 Key to unlocking the potential for better health outcomes through planning for health aligned with the needs of the population is getting all the right stakeholders in the room - these are wide ranging and have the population itself at the heart of it #ittakesacommunity 🌍 A holistic view of health and wellness needs to be central to the process - population wellness as well as medical needs are integral 🥇 The prize of getting this right will be a more equitable, sustainable, high quality (see holistic again!) service providing better value to us all ✏ Identifying tangible next steps including "low hanging fruit" use cases will ensure that progress is maintained and increased. There are some good examples of what can be achieved in relatively short order I am very much looking forward to continuing the discussion on this key topic.
