Globally, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. In 2023 alone, there were 2.3 million new cases, making it a global health issue. But with timely screening and treatment, many lives can be saved. Key Facts: 1 in 8 women worldwide will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer leads to 685,000 deaths each year, but early detection can change this outcome. Survival rates differ dramatically across regions due to disparities in access to healthcare and awareness. Breaking the Stigma: Men Get Breast Cancer Too When we think of breast cancer, we often associate it with women, but did you know that 2.9% of all breast cancer cases in Ghana occur in men? Male breast cancer, though rare, is a reality that deserves attention. Most cases in men are ductal carcinomas, and a significant number (80%) are diagnosed with lymph node involvement, meaning the disease is often advanced by the time it’s detected. The average age of diagnosis in men in Ghana is between 40-49 years, but the stigma surrounding male breast health often leads to delays in seeking care. Symptoms like a lump, nipple discharge, or changes in the chest area should never be ignored. It’s time to break the silence and educate our communities. Breast cancer doesn’t discriminate by gender. Early detection can save lives. so let’s encourage regular checks and consultations, for men and women alike. Don’t wait! If you notice unusual changes in your chest or breast area, consult a healthcare provider immediately. Early detection makes all the difference. Let’s work together to spread awareness and save lives. #BreastCancerAwareness #MaleBreastCancer #HealthForAll #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #GhanaHealth #Bisayen

At Marble Medical Hospital for #breastcancerawareness event. Breast cancer awareness is vital in the fight against one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. By spreading knowledge about early detection, we empower individuals to take charge of their health. Regular self-examinations, clinical screenings, and mammograms play a crucial role in identifying breast cancer at an early, more treatable stage. #Awareness #campaigns also help to break the stigma surrounding breast cancer, encouraging open conversations and offering support to those affected. Early detection saves lives, and educating ourselves and others about the symptoms, risk factors, and preventive measures is key. It's important to remember that breast cancer can affect both #men and #women, although women are at a higher risk. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month and beyond, let's unite to raise awareness, support survivors, and contribute to research efforts aimed at finding a cure. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you Dima Shihadeh for having us. #hope #togetherness Speaker Aaliya Masoodi
