In this issue of the Bulletin..."Welcome to the Board Room: November 2023 Board Meeting Recap" by Lindsay Heering, MS, CCLS, ACLP Immediate Past President "For two days, twice a year, the ACLP Board of Directors meets in person for the board meeting. One month before the board meeting, all ACLP committees, task forces, and work groups comprising volunteer Certified Child Life Specialists and aspiring professionals are expected to submit Board reports. Through these reports, they can share the progress of their work, seek direction or clarification, and/or request board approval for their recommendations or financial considerations. Board members review each report and come prepared with questions and considerations for each discussion item." A very informative webinar! Interesting to think about the potential need to consider flooding when categorizing tropical systems. This could help in communicating to the public the need for active measures including evacuation even at lower level categories. Compound flooding is one of the main concerns when it comes to severe weather, especially when dealing with high population areas.

📣We need your vote! 💚Join us in championing Oral Healthcare improvement in the Netherlands, especially for those that need it the most Only one-third of the children under the age of four receive dental care, leading to a concerning statistic: about 25% of five-year-olds already have cavities (in NL). Research indicates that children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds are more likely to experience cavities compared to their peers from higher socioeconomic backgrounds. Additionally, this group often either delays or does not seek dental care at all. Poor oral hygiene can lead to various health issues, such as gum disease, tooth decay, lip and oral cavity cancer, and systemic conditions like heart and vascular diseases. Recent research even links bad oral health to Alzheimer's and Diabetes. All the more reason that action is needed now! After extensive research and consultations with our target audience, we've been working on a solution. Our approach combines engaging educational sessions with a playful, gamified at-home tool designed to reinforce healthy oral hygiene habits. We're determined to reverse these alarming statistics and make a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable communities. Our team member Mitchell tells you all about it in this podcast https://lnkd.in/ecShHJ_g (auto-translate subtitles available for non-Dutch speakers). With more companies focusing on innovative solutions, we need your support! What do we need to change at NHS Birmingham and Solihull? We're urging all staff in health and care to continue to get involved in our second Our Open Conversation. Through the conversation – which ends on 7 May - we’re checking and challenging the pledges that have been drafted in response to what was shared in the first Conversation at the end of last year. Did we hear correctly? Do the pledges address our concerns and priorities? Everything shared in this second Conversation will directly impact the final pledges and shape the future of our health and care system. #OurOpenConversations are interactive online conversations hosted by our independent partner, Clever Together. They are anonymous, inclusive, and transparent. Here’s what to do: 1. Find out how to log in at: https://lnkd.in/eMUfSH4v 2. Vote and comment on the draft pledges and the contributions of others 3. Spread the word! https://lnkd.in/eZKTEm6B
