An interesting tidbit from my colleague - I'm often asked "What does the Department of State do domestically?" while at career fairs and other events. This link can show you exactly the effects on YOUR state that the work of our diplomatic corps does overseas and at home. I did not know that $24.8 billion dollars of goods were exported from my home state of Massachusetts in FY 2020 AND nearly 230,000 jobs in MA were supported by foreign direct investments in FY 2017. I can only imagine those numbers have gone up as the global economy continues to grow! As a foreign affairs professional with the U.S. Department of State, you make a difference abroad, nationally, and even in your own home state! #diplomacyinaction
