This! Portland should focus on this instead of listening to out of state land owners who refuse to adapt to the new normal. Instead of listening to the whiny commercial building owners complain about teleworking we should focus on building communities that support local business and affordable housing 24/7! Thousands of square feet available, plenty of jobs downtown, affordable housing via adaptive reuse seems like a win win if we replaced the housing that was one prominent in an area of need. It just seems like the easiest solution is often ignored when the elite have to maybe make an effort.
The “Doom Loop” was overstated and our great American cities are now more confident in a brighter future that confirms what many have been advocating for #chicagoloopalliance #chicagocentralareacommitter in the transition of Chicago’s downtown into a dynamic mixed-use environment that celebrates our unique “stadium of culture” @louraizin https://lnkd.in/guZMh_Yt and Mayor Johnson’s commitment to the LaSalle Street Reimagined Initiative https://lnkd.in/geSVmm79 DL3 Realty Chicago Loop Alliance ChicagoFashion Week Chicago 2024 Host Committee Corporate Coalition of Chicago Quintin E. The good momentum and growth along Howard Street (both on the north side in #Evanston and the south side in #Chicago) is due in part to smart city planning and collaborative economic development.
🎉 Exciting News! The City of Evanston has won the 2024 Strategic Plan Award from APA-IL for its One Howard Street Economic Recovery Plan! This innovative project, developed in collaboration with the Rogers Park Business Alliance and MUSE Community + Design, focuses on revitalizing the Howard Street corridor with a strong emphasis on pedestrian-friendly spaces, anti-displacement measures, and community engagement. Congrats to everyone involved! bit.ly/47t4C97 Paul Zalmezak, AICP, Katie Boden, Neal Reeves, MPA
