Last night, I saw a truly horrifying video that was circulating around the oval racing pages on Facebook.. At a banger meeting yesterday, there was a typical 'follow in' move.. Now the bloke that got followed in, actually shot out the front of the vehicle! 🤮 One of his legs hit the dash, which stopped him being completely ejected from the car. Thankfully, he was ok!!! 🙏🙏🙏 All racers know the risk of racing, especially in contact formulas. Alot of speculation going on, to how the hell it happened. Wrong harness. Harness points lose etc etc.. Start of meetings, cars are scrutineered and also helmets, safety devices. What race marshalls and track staff do not do now, is check drivers harnesses when you pull on track. This was voted out, as they said drivers could end up trying to blame staff for injuries.. When I raced, I checked my harness over and over again. And physically strapped my belts that tight, I couldn't move a mm! Which, is how you are meant to have them.. I haven't raced for 9 years, as I had damaged a disc in my back, which can sometimes play up from time to time, and cause sciatica 🤫😔 I hope it's looked into, and actions put into place.. Would hate for contact racing to end up 'a thing of the past'..
