💫 So glad to be back at ICPHSO (Intl Consumer Product Health & Safety Organization) taking place as part of the International Product Safety Week hosted by the European Commission in Brussels. Already diving in Day 2 and we had the chance to attend a very insightful panel with Tatiana Murzabaeva, Christopher Oldknow and András Zsigmond moderated by Thomas (Tom) Panter on New Rules for E-Commerce: The GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) and DSA (EU’s Digital Service Act). Both setting up a new landscape for marketplaces. We tackled some of the practical challenges faced by marketplaces in implementing these new regulations. 💡Some key takeaways from my side: ➡️While developing this kind of new regulations, finding the right balance between consumer protections and fair competition and making rules which are future proof are the main challenges. ➡️For companies, one of the biggest challenges is translating the legal requirements in the best understandable and workable way for non-legal teams. ➡️ As far as marketplaces are concerned, some resistance was faced from traders in the enforcement process.
