I had my first meeting of the year with Callum this morning as we plan to conquer in 2025. I like short and snappy meetings, it's just the way my brain works... 🧠 This one was mid-length but we had tons to go through; - client objectives for 2025 - the obligatory Christmas update - urgent work - the 'where are we with this'... - our strategy recap Tons more too! We call it a huddle! Something to implement in 2025?

During our weekly efficiency improvement meeting (which always runs 2 hours over schedule), my boss was concerned about missed deadlines. "Team, why aren't we completing projects on time?" I quietly shared my screen showing my calendar - a beautiful modern art piece made entirely of overlapping meeting blocks. "This is serious," he frowned, studying the colored rectangles. "We need to understand what's taking up everyone's time." I zoomed in to show him today's date: we were currently sitting in a meeting about missed deadlines, which was overlapping with three other meetings I was supposed to be in, discussing why I miss meetings. "I think I found the root cause, sir." "Excellent! Let's create an action plan. What's the first step?" "Well, according to my calendar, I'm currently in four meetings. So technically, I'm being 400% productive right now." He looked puzzled, then excited. "This changes everything! We need everyone to be in multiple meetings at once!" Last week, they gave me an award for attending 18 meetings simultaneously. I was too busy being in meetings to attend the award ceremony. So they scheduled another meeting to discuss rescheduling the award ceremony.

How I booked 3 meetings in my first week on the job: 1. Confidence! I believed I was going to book meetings and made it happen. 2. Did thorough research before every call. 3. Didn't play any cat and mouse or use bait and switch techniques. I let them know exactly why I was calling, brought up pain points others in the industry are having, and presented a solution. Honestly, there are no secrets. I was pretty nervous, voice shaky, lots of "ums", but wanted to book meetings and followed through with my own goals 🤙 One is already working through the pipeline One ghosted us One is scheduled for the future And now on week 2 I have one meeting booked and looking to beat last week!
