How do we move from idea to action with 8 of world's leading Chemical Companies at the Global Impact Coalition? 💡 We bring together experts, business leaders and scientists from our member and partner companies. (Including BASF, LyondellBasell, SABIC, Covestro, Clariant, Syensqo, Sabanci Holding, Mitsubishi Chemical Group) 🤝 We meet frequently to build trust, discuss shared challenges and collaborate on solutions. 📌 We have focused working groups with clear tasks to advance towards viable business opportunities, supported by excellent teams from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and BCG X! We stick to strict criteria to ensure all projects are ⬇️ reducing carbon emissions while ⬆️ increasing circularity and reutilization of resources. Reflecting on our #sustainability journey in the past two years, I am really pleased and proud of how our team is embracing this #transformation. At BASF Monomers, we now have many “sustainability black belts” and they are driving numerous projects. It’s a community that coaches and helps each other so that the transformation is meanwhile self-accelerating.   The result is most impressive: we launch new sustainable products every month while our #CO2 emissions decline every year.   Products with a reduced carbon footprint are now available in all our value chains. Here are some examples: ·       Isocyanates: https://lnkd.in/eazebYHf ·       Polyamides: https://lnkd.in/e-mX25dQ ·       Inorganics: https://lnkd.in/ejbqmpXB ·       Amino resins: https://lnkd.in/e_QQQZSi    And there is more to come. Last year, we certified new sites according to ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification and REDcert GmbH in North America, in Europe and in Asia. In parallel!   Other colleagues certified one of their tollers (the first toller certified in our division) as well as their share in a Joint Venture (also a premiere in our division).   It was a busy year. A big thank you to my colleagues who pushed all these projects and activities on top of their work in our lean commodity division. Our latest #CMI #newsletter is out now: One topic: Creating Net-Zero Value Chains First established in 2019 within the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the Low-Carbon Emitting Technologies (LCET) initiative, the CEO-led Global Impact Coalition (GIC) was officially launched as an independent entity by seven global chemical companies in November 2023. Focused on reducing carbon emissions and advancing circularity in the #chemical industry, the GIC provides a platform to co-create new business models, develop proof-of-concept pilots, and scale-up new technologies. One of the projects to accelerate the transformation to a low-carbon and circular future is the recently launched R&D Hub, aimed at advancing new plastic recycling methods. In an interview with CHEManager International, Charlie Tan, CEO of GIC, explains the initiative’s scope and describes some key activities.
