"Today evening, a prayer evening (Bhajan Sandhya) was organized ijn Maa Badi Kendra in Daikhera. There were men from some surrounding villages as well. I spoke about diarrhea. People listened intently, and shared that there is (outbreak of) diarrhea almost everywhere. I told them to see care when someone has diarrhea. They asked what should they do at home. I shared that they should drink more fluids and continued feeding. Another person remarked that we should not waste time going to Bhopas (traditional healers). A LETTER TO THE ONE WHO CARES. Palliative care is not a luxury, but rather a necessity. Unfortunately, many individuals with serious illnesses and their families are forced to endure subpar quality of life and high levels of distress, pain, and other symptoms due to disparities in access to palliative care. Disparities in palliative care should not be accepted as normal in our society, as the World Health Organization recognizes palliative care as a fundamental human right. Just as we would not allow someone to infringe upon our rights, we must not remain silent when individuals with serious illnesses experience disparities in accessing palliative care. It is unacceptable for people to endure unnecessary suffering and lack of dignity in their final days, especially when palliative care has the potential to alleviate these issues. Indeed, palliative care is not a luxury, but a necessity that must be accessible to all. Together, let's redefine the status quo!
