Navigating Facility Upgrades: Ensuring Volleyball's Place in Queenstown's Future. At Shared Services, one of the key ways we support our clients is by stepping in to fill the gaps where resources or expertise might be missing. Whether it's through event coordination, strategic planning, or advocacy, we ensure that organisations like Volleyball New Zealand affliated regional volleyball associations remain front and centre when local councils make decisions and are looking to incorporate volleyball courts into long term plans. Tonight, we had the privilege of attending a meeting hosted by the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) sport and recreation manager Simon Battrick to discuss the future of indoor courts in Queenstown. During the meeting, we were invited along with others to contribute via a working group, a crucial opportunity to ensure that volleyball's growing Queenstown community is not overlooked in these exciting developments. This is a perfect example of how we assist our clients—by actively engaging with councils, providing a voice in key discussions, and advocating for the inclusion of sports like volleyball in the planning stages of new facilities. As we work closely with our clients, our goal is to ensure that they are always front of mind when critical infrastructure decisions are made, paving the way for growth and sustainability in their communities. This is not just about providing courts; it's about building opportunities for future generations to enjoy the game and develop their skills in our communities. If you’re looking for support in advocating for your sport or organisation when facility upgrades are on the table, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Together, we can help you stay ahead and ensure that your community is always considered. #FacilityPlanning #Volleyball #CommunitySports #SharedServices #Queenstown #IndoorSports

Couple things…. We took a drive around Charleston yesterday on the hunt for unused tennis courts, just to see how many we could find. We found them. A few managed by the city and random courts in surrounding neighborhoods. More convinced than ever this is happening way beyond our area, absolutely across the country. It’s truly disheartening for our sport. According to the 2024Tennis Industry Association participation report, 42% of tennis players in America use public parks? YOU READ CORRECTLY - It’s not the member-only clubs or fancy facilities that host the most players; it’s our public parks. July is Parks and Rec Month. WHY do these courts look like this, just sitting here, empty and forgotten? If we don’t breathe life back into them, tennis is missing a huge opportunity to expand in communities. And we’re certainly not making it to (USTA) United States Tennis Association initiative to grow to 35 million players by 2035. 🎾To the tennis players complaining about pickleball players taking over tennis courts. WHERE ARE YOU? Honestly, if the courts aren’t being used, it’s no wonder they’re being repurposed. This is a wake-up call to us. Get out and start using these courts before they disappear for good. 🎾Parks and Rec, WHERE ARE YOU? We need you to allow organized adult and junior programming by professionals who know how to grow and manage. These courts need maintenance, promotion, and a lot of love to make them alive again. It’s kind of puzzling, isn’t it? We have thousands of courts available, yet they remain empty. Are we really okay with allowing them to be converted or worse, letting them go to waste? No, no and no. Unacceptable. I started my tennis career teaching on parks and rec courts over 15 years ago, this hits home. #tennis #parksandrec #wearetennis #courtrescue #grassroots

The rise of pickleball is reshaping the landscape of recreational sports, leading to notable tensions with traditional tennis players over court space. As pickleball's popularity skyrockets, many communities are grappling with the clash between these two beloved sports. This conflict isn't just about games; it's about the future of shared spaces and resources. From my experience on the court, I’ve seen how pickleball fosters community and inclusivity. It’s not only accessible but also serves as a social hub, bringing together people from all walks of life. 🌟 However, the conversion of tennis courts to accommodate pickleball is a hot-button issue. Tennis traditionalists are advocating for the preservation of their sport’s unique requirements. It raises an important question: How can we balance the joy of these two sports while respecting their histories? Here are a few thoughts on potential solutions: 1. **Multi-use Courts:** Facilities can design versatile courts that easily transition between tennis and pickleball. 2. **Cooperative Scheduling:** Implementing fair allocation for court time could ease the scheduling squeeze. 3. **Community Engagement:** Regular meetings to foster communication between both groups can help create understanding and collaborative solutions. What are your thoughts on this ongoing debate? Have you noticed similar conflicts in your community? Let's discuss! #pickleball #tennis #community #sports #courtspace #inclusivity #collaboration
The article discusses the growing conflict between pickleball and tennis players over court space, highlighting the explosive rise of pickleball, differing perspectives on court usage, and proposing solutions for amicable coexistence.

During USA Basketball Camp, we do a daily workshop to cover the word of the day and address any issues that we see infiltrating the attitudes and chemistry of our campers. As former professional players, playing basketball at every level imaginable in multiple countries, we hope to provide our vast experience for the benefit of every level of player. Most of the kids that come through USA Basketball Camp, are underdogs. Either they are just figuring out that they love basketball...or they have aspirations of playing at a higher level and realize where they are at now, is insufficient to get them there. Whatever the motivation, the sklil set level, or the experience of the players, you can always learn something to add to your tool kit of skills and abilities. Analysing the game in real time, and the ability to implement those changes quickly, is the highest level of execution. This is literally why you practice. Honing your skills in practice, breaking down the obstacles that might present themselves, creating various scenarios and then applying what you have learned…in real time. During a season, most European club teams at the lower levels do not have the gym time to get into this kind of detail. We break it all down over a week, from 9 am to 4 pm (day camp), or 9 am to 6 pm (overnight camp). That's 6 to 8 hours of basketball each day, 30 to 40 hours of basketball related skills, drills, games and exercises, supervised and executed by ex-professional players with a combined 45 years in the game. We've played on 4 different continents, in a host of countries, and in leagues at the highest levels, in each country we've played in. What do you want to learn about yourself What drives you to compete? Whatever your motivations may be, if you were unsure about your future, when you leave USA Basketball Camp, you'll know what you REALLY want from the game of basketball, sports education alternatives, and life in general! "LET'S GO BABY!"..."Make your next move, the best move." https://lnkd.in/eW-EpJb6 #usabasketballcamp #smbgeducation #smbgbasketball #smbgteam #youthbasketball #frenchbasketball #frenchsports

Discover the world of full-ride athletic scholarships in sports like volleyball and tennis. As headcount sports, they support the school's financial structure. Water damage you say? "Shmeh". For the Saints Varsity Volleyball team, it's all "water under the bridge" now! 😂 First home opener is tonight and the team is playing on a brand new floor with increased cushion and reactiveness. Find out more about the damage to the gym floor and how the Saints made the best of a "soggy" situation. 🤣 Read the latest article by Gabi, '26, a reporter on the Saint Thomas Aquinas student led newspaper, The Shield. https://lnkd.in/gnEzJtFx
