I’m an US Financial Advisor living in Europe helping Americans navigate the complexity of Financial Planning in Europe so you can better manage your money, reduce stress, and focus on the things that matter most to you.
Olympic Record for the Men's 400m Individual Medley, clocking in at 4:02:95 according to Olympics.com. Obviously, the French are ecstatic, but the Americans are also cheering – the French swimming prodigy resides in the U.S. and trains with Bob Bowman, who swimming aficionados will recognize as the man who coached Michael Phelps. Now, I’m not a swimmer or a coach, and if I did my mental math correctly, last night Mr. Marchand was swimming more quickly than I usually walk. However, I am a cross-border financial planner. So there’s another impressive number associated with Mr. Marchand’s victory that interests me – 80,000. That’s the amount, in euros, that French athletes earn for winning gold at the Olympics this year. In USD, that works out to a little less than $87,000. So, why is this interesting to me? Well, Mr. Marchand lives and trains in the U.S., therefore it stands to reason that he is a tax resident there. The cross-border financial implications of winning such a sum are fascinating, particularly when we consider that Mr. Marchand also received (likely very lucrative) sponsorship deals from French brands before the Olympics. While you may not be an Olympic gold medal winner (or perhaps you are!), if you’re a U.S. citizen considering a move to Europe, your financial questions can quickly evolve to look like Mr. Marchand’s. If you’re starting to feel out of your element with those questions, I’d love to help answer them. New Post: Cashing in On Large-Scale Amateur Events - https://lnkd.in/gc3kZFtx, Thailand: Restaurants, hotels, golf clubs and local economies around the region are set to cash in on an increase in the number of large-scale amateur tournaments. Bangkok, Thailand: Restaurants, hotels, golf clubs and local economies around the region are set to cash in on an increase in the number of large-scale amateur tournaments. Such has been the success of Golfasian-organised events in recent years that the demand for additions to the calendar is growing. “When we started running these events more than 10 years ago, hoteliers and courses were unaware of the potential,” said Mark Siegel, Managing Director at Golfasian, a Full Business Member of the Asian Golf Industry Federation. “Now we are being approached by tourist boards asking us to consider creating new events in their regions,” he added. Last month, Golfasian staged the Centara World Masters in Hua Hin and the Avani Pattaya 2 Ball. Spanning two weeks, the tournaments featured more than 550 amateur golfers from 20 countries. The impact on the two cities was substantial with income generated through hundreds of room nights for local hotels, while F& B departments were busy organising nightly parties and gala dinners. In the wake of the success of these gatherings, Siegel said Golfasian has enlarged its future calendar of events with golf vacationers from across the world already signing up for events that are being planned in Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Siegel said he’s confident that the 2024-25 season will see Golfasian events top the 2,000 competitors who played in the last 12 months.

I'm a member of the the Golf Power Poll panel and this month the questions were about money in golf. One of the questions was concerning whether the vast amount of money 🤑 currently in professional golf is having an adverse effect on fans' interest - i.e., are fans actually turning off as purses astronomically increase? In my case, yes. And, according to the Power Poll results I am not alone in this opinion. Personally, I am less than excited about the 'Signature' events - a few are fine, but 8 is way too many - especially in this schedule shorten #Olympic year. Nick Dunlap winning twice on the PGA TOUR - once as an amateur - emphasizes the fact that ANYONE in the field can win and I (along with the players ranked 51-125/150) would like to see the return to more full field events - WITH more of the Top 50 in those fields. Or as a compromise to the 'elephant in the room' as the only time that LIV's top players now play against PGA TOUR & DP World Tour is the Majors – take 4 of those 8 Signature events and have 1/2 the field be LIV Golf players and half PGA Tour/ DP World Tour players with full OGWR points & the same purses (with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) contributing) so there starts to be some true relevance on who the best players actually are. Just a thought - Golf is truly a global game played by millions who love it - let's embrace and celebrate it, instead of fighting amongst the professional elite. See you on the #links!!! #golf #globalgame #professionalgolf #signatureevents #lovegolf #playgolf #amateurgolf #LIV #PGATOUR #DPWorldTour #PowerPoll #PowerPollGolf Scott Michaux 54 #celebrategolf #moneyinsport Joe Pompliano Tipesh Tank
It pays to play in the PGA Tour's eight signature events.

CEO / founder of ATLANTIC EXPATS, we provide relocation concierge services, so European expats can have the most seamless transition into the Hampton Roads area, Virginia, US.
GOLF ⛳️ Golf in the US and Europe shares a common origin but has evolved into distinct experiences. In the US 🇺🇸, golf courses tend to be more expansive and meticulously maintained, with an emphasis on luxurious amenities. American golf culture often revolves around resort-style courses and private country clubs, and the game is deeply intertwined with social and business networking. In contrast, European golf maintains a closer connection to the sport’s traditional roots. European courses often integrate more with the natural terrain, offering a more rugged and authentic feel. While the US emphasises grandeur, Europe prioritizes history and the natural beauty of the game. #atlanticexpats #expats #expatlife #topgolf #relocationspecialists #relocation #relocationservices #movetonorfolk #movetovirginiabeach #europeansintheusa
