You could be forgiven for thinking that not a weekend goes by without me spending time in my kitchen baking. Although there may be more than a grain of truth in this, my project on this occasion was less about Protective Interruptions and more about celebrating a team member’s birthday. Whilst it would have been a lot quicker and easier just to buy something from a shop, it wouldn’t have conveyed the same level of thought or effort. Investing time in gestures like this forms an important aspect of how I try to nurture relationships with my team and enhance our collective level of well-being. After whatever challenges and unexpected situations land at our feet tomorrow, we can at least sit together and enjoy some tea and cake. #wellbeingatwork #emotionalwellbeing #team #relationships

Who says work and fun can't mix? Our team at the financial advisory office spices things up with our monthly Curry Club. We visit different Indian restaurants around town, and it's not just about the food. These outings are a part of how we build up our team spirit, bringing everyone together in a shared love for good curry and good company. This shared experience not only lets us explore diverse flavors but also fuels a positive atmosphere within our team. It enhances our morale and strengthens our bond, making us not just a team, but a tightly-knit curry-loving family. There's nothing like a good meal to get people talking, laughing, and connecting on a deeper level. It goes to show how a serving of sumptuous curry can stir up more than just your taste buds, it can stir up a spirited and vibrant work culture too! When's the last time your meal added a dose of camaraderie into your work? #CurryClub #TeamBuilding #WorkplaceCulture

Nervous about this one. Kids food is a sensitive subject, but this is my approach to nourishing my children. Let them have pizza and sausages and cake... but I'll buy quality ingredients and cook from scratch so that they aren't loading up on ultra processed food and unknown levels of sugar, all in the name of turning 3. Funny one for Linkedin as this feels personal and domestic, rather than professional. However it is part of the conversation we need to be having. Work demands so much of our day and is often cited as the reason we don't have time to cook better food, from scratch. Work life balance... where does domestic duty fall? I love cooking, but the relentless frequency of feeding my family makes it feel like a chore. And yes I'm going to say it, it still feels like it's women's responsibility to meal plan, grocery shop, prep, cook and serve food. All whilst grappling with identity after becoming a mother. In my case there was redundancy thrown on top and the desire to jump into a new industry, reinvent myself and build a reputation from scratch. Not all that uncommon actually. Needless to say I'm feeling a bit of overwhelm today and I think the solution might just be to accept that I'm the bread maker, not the bread winner, and maybe get chickens. Would love to hear your thoughts about cooking from scratch, avoiding UPF and redesigning life so that we make time for it all. All thoughts are valid, I'm keen to have an open and honest conversation! https://lnkd.in/dva_HiPE

Do you know what we used to do in our office on Mondays and Fridays? We've had this tradition of spoiling the team with some sweet treats. Chocolate and chips are the usual suspects. It was a fun way to kick off the week and unwind after a long one. But lately, it got me thinking… 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐛𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐬𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐬? We all know health is important, and a healthy team is a happy and productive team. That's why we decided to swap out the candy for some fresh, seasonal fruits like mangoes and peaches. Still delicious, but way better for everyone's body and mind. We even have cake celebrations twice a month to keep things fun, but small changes can make a big difference, right? So, what do you think? Are you team candy or team fruit for office treats? Let me know in the comments. P.S. Would you be more likely to grab a candy bar or a juicy peach at work? #TeamSuccess #TeamBuilding #SoftwareDevelopment #CompanyCulture #TeamCare

Associate at Connectd I Executive Careers Expert I Strategically Connecting Executives with Startups
It’s Fridayyyy, I’m sure we’re all buzzing for the weekend as I am 🥳 Whilst we often try to separate our personal and professional lives, it’s a near impossible task and we shouldn’t feel that we can’t merge the two whilst still maintaining a healthy work/life balance ⚖️ Those that know me, know how much of a foodie I am and I’m pleased to say I’ve started not 1 but 2 food related initiatives at my current and previous workplace!! What started off as a few lunch swaps with Pedro Coutinho followed by Luxshana Hoorpah Anna Efthymiadou Amy Watts & Pedro Bessa to appreciate the similarities and differences between our cultures and cuisines ended up being a company wide D+I initiative 💜💙 Fast forward to last night where myself and my fellow foodie fanatic James Dixon organised Connectd’s second potluck initiative - this time in honour of Burns Night 🏴 Despite it being ‘NED season’ thus the busiest time of year for us, my colleagues still got together to continue showing appreciation for one another’s cultures & traditions with a special performance from William Smith on the bagpipes 🤍 My love for food also extends to drinks (in moderation of course 😉) I had so much fun meeting with some of the our F&B founders at one of our event during the festive period 🥂✨How excited I showing Thomas Soden some product placement pics myself and Inarah Nor Hashimi took not realising they weren’t his products 🤣🫣 After some inspiration and pointers from Ace+Freak founder & CEO himself, I wizzed around our office another time around and whipped up some new photos 💛 Once I start talking about food and all things related, I really won’t stop so I’ll leave you with some food for thought - What’s one aspect of your personal life or personality you’re trying to or have bought into your professional place of work? Logging off for my birthday now - let the good times be gin 💃🏽 #worklifebalance #foodforthought #diversity #inclusion #companyculture

My positive potato has been joined by a positive poo and a fineapple! I know these are mass produced but their messages really resonate with me. A small gift but when someone really gets you it makes you feel seen. Whether it be these little dudes, your favourite biscuit to dip in your tea, the next book in the series, a meal at that restaurant you’ve been talking about or getting your sense of humour. These ‘gifts’ help us feel heard, seen and known. So what about our team members? How can we make them feel the same way? 💡Create a psychologicaly safe work place 💡Encourage team members to bring their whole selves to work 💡Find out preferred ways of working and communicating 💡Get to know people personally 💡Have regular one-to-ones 💡And maybe buy the odd favourite biccie or two! #psychologicalsafety #teamappreciation

I recently learned about this amazing #Swedish tradition called 'fika' (Ref: TOI) and I can't stop thinking about how great it is! Fika is taking a #break during the day to enjoy a hot drink like #coffee or #tea along with a little snack or pastry. But it's more than just a coffee break - it's a chance to #relax, #recharge, and socialize with friends, family, or coworkers. The #Swedes really value this tradition as an important part of their culture and lifestyle. #Coworkers will often gather for fika in the office where they can chat informally over treats someone baked at home. On #Fridays, it's an even bigger deal with people bringing in their homemade goodies to share. I love the idea of #prioritizing these simple pleasures in our lives! It's like permitting ourselves to slow down, enjoy good company over good food, and not be rushed all the time. The Swedes see fika as a way to increase well-being and #productivity by allowing people to take a break and connect. With our workaholic culture, I think we could all benefit from adopting a fika #mindset. Making time to enjoy a treat without working through lunch. Catching up with coworkers in a relaxed setting. Hitting #pause on the daily grind for a little indulgence. Imagine how much better we might feel if we stopped cramming caffeine and nutrient-poor snacks down at our desks. Fika is the opposite - it's a conscious recharging of mind, body and spirit through conversation, comfort foods, and a change of scenery. What do you think about this? #fika #swedish #culture #wellbeing #relax #pause #reflect
