Getting startups funded | Funding Accelerator for founders raising equity investment for 1st or 2nd time | Angel Investment | GBEA Finalist 2023/4 & Enterprise Nation Adviser of the Year 2022/3 (Funding)

🚀 Let's talk about your pitch deck. Every founder knows they need one if they want to raise equity investment. Most founders have probably created one. But creating a pitch deck that will have investors clamouring to back your startup is a trickier task. Recently, Deborah Gruenberger, a design and marketing expert and angel investor, ran a workshop with our community of startup founders. Here are her key takeaways to elevate your pitch deck from the hundreds of others that pass over investors’ desks each week. 🎯Focus on the Core Questions: The basis of a good pitch deck really comes down to clearly answering four simple but crucial questions: Why this problem? Why this solution? Why now? Why you? But, Deborah explained there are also three essential elements that every founder should focus on: ✨ Storytelling: Connect with investors on an emotional level, which can be done through storytelling. Start with your mission and purpose before going into the details of your solution. People invest in people, so make your story relatable and compelling. 🎨 Design: Keep your slides clean and visually engaging. Use visual hierarchy, consistent colours, and minimal text. Remember, a well-designed deck can make a huge difference in grabbing investors’ attention, and makes the narrative easier to follow. 📊 Data: Back up your statements with solid data. Include qualitative and quantitative data to give a full picture of your business’s potential and impact. Numbers are impactful, but stories about user experiences can be equally powerful, and help to build investor confidence. #PitchDeck #Startups #InvestorPitch

Yes! One important thing is to keep it brief and engaging. I remember my time as an analyst, I used to look at the number of slides the first thing :D Even if the startup was interesting and it had a lot of slides, I'd lose some interest. Keeping it short and having an engaging story is difficult sometimes.

Thanks Hatty Fawcett. I always love talking to the founders at Focused For Business. Hope my workshop helped them to create decks that stand out.

Founders' ability to tell a compelling story of the reason their startup exists is constantly rated by investors as the number one skill they should master. I love the clarity behind your "four questions" approach to building a pitch deck, Hatty Fawcett - really useful!
