It’s been 2 years since I embarked on a remarkable journey. I picked up a passion of mine and turned it into a small business. I created an instagram page, talked to a few suppliers and just began selling. My close circle became my first revelation as I found support in almost all of my friends and peers. From then onwards, I have made strides, very small strides for some, but I am highly content with my journey so far. As many of you know, I began selling and trades watches in May 2023 through an Instagram page. I have a few numbers to share, and they are by no means impressive, but they show progress, and that’s all that I want for now. Here’s a few that stand out: 1- More than 5k organic followers on Instagram 2- 100+ 5 star reviews on google 3- 600+ successful orders across Pakistan 4- Rs. 10m MRR in the past 12 months 5- A community of enthusiasts, with an executive group of 600+ members 6- A product of my own If you’re a startup geek, or someone who understands the ecosystem well enough, you might find my numbers outright stupid. You may not identify a Product Market Fit, a recurring MRR, or a scalable business, but as I said, this is just something close to my heart that makes me and my wallet happy everyday of the week. I feel LinkedIn gets all the fancy updates that sound sexy but few people talk about building something from scratch, specially built around passion. We need to cultivate a mindset that allows entrepreneurs to experiment with their offerings. You don't need a physical store, or a significant amount of capital to create an e-commerce offering. Experimentation in this time and age is a wonderful thing, with barriers to entry almost being none. Success isn't guaranteed, just like any venture, but if you put in the right time and effort, it could be the start of something new for you.
