Owner, In-Tec | 30+ Years in Commercial Cleaning | Advocate, Fair Treatment + Industry Accountability
As we head into the end of the week, I always think of the many cleaners that are either finishing the week or have cleans to be performed. And like Rosie in the video, the question I ask is - are the cleaners getting treated as they should be? Yes, the impression in the video is of a gig worker, and the first impression that comes to mind is an Uber driver, or maybe a DoorDash delivery person, but what if I told you that the Fair Work Commission changes, due August 26, 2024, class cleaners as gig workers in Australia. Why? Because most cleaners are underpaid, mistreated, and incorrectly classed as contractors (over 80% percent of the cleaning industry operates like this - Sham Contracting) when they actually employees. So I ask you, if your cleaners, like Rosie are trying to earn a living, but getting to some payment that equates to $7 per hour, do you think this is fair? There is a solution - for everyone to accept that all workers deserve to be paid correctly, even if this means that the cleaning costs will go up. And just like Rosie, when she sees an opportunity to get a well paid job, where she is treated well, we get cleaners approach us. Cleaners hear from their relatives, their friends, and our current cleaners about how we treat our team, and contact us, asking how do they get a job with us. And to you, what is the outcome? A cleaner that is so appreciative to have the job, so happy to at last be paid correctly, so happy to have the training and support, they do their ultimate best to deliver to you, our clients and us, the best standard they can. So as we all end a week, I ask for some thought to be given to the Gig workers - the ones that work the hours most of us don't like to even think about working, and ask are they being treated fairly?

🌟 Embracing the Culture of Appreciation at Crumbl Pensacola/Gulf Breeze 🌟 Early in my career, I learned the importance of Employee Development, Customer Service, Growth, & Profitability from the amazing team at Enterprise Mobility. I strongly believe that a focus on our team's development and company culture naturally leads to success in the other core areas. One practice we've adopted to nurture our team and culture is our "Crew Shout Outs" shared weekly through Slack. But why does this matter? 1️⃣ It cultivates a culture of appreciation, encouraging our emerging leaders to actively seek and celebrate the positives within our team. Acknowledging the great work happening around us! 2️⃣ These shout outs foster a strong sense of community and collaboration among our entire Crew. Public recognition uplifts individuals, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated. And besides being an incredible way to celebrate achievements, these shout outs also keep me young and hip by keeping up with the latest slang! Here's a recent shout out from one of our Shift Leads about a Baker at Crumbl: 🌟 "I can never say enough good things about Hunter!! She just absolutely slays every shift she works!! I rarely have to tell her what to do because she is always finding a task to complete or is helping another station! She is such an amazing baker, and I love working with her!!" 🌟 I'm curious, how does your business show appreciation for your amazing team? Share your thoughts! 👇 #EmployeeAppreciation #CompanyCulture #TeamRecognition

Shhh 🤫… did you know that one of Puerto Rico’s best kept secrets as a top employer is Plaza Provision Company. We do not self promote. So, I want to let you into our secret. Our CEO is one of the humblest and well-intentioned leaders you’ll ever meet. Our employee tenure average is at 26 years of service with many surpassing that. Our turnover is less than 3%. And yes, we promote from within for vertical and horizontal mobility and development. So, why do our employees stick around so long. For one, balance and quality of work and life. As California proposes a new bill, giving “Workers the Right-to-Disconnect from Non-Emergency Business Calls and Texts After Hours”, Plaza Provision already respects its employees’s free time. We know there is much more to life than just work and we want our employees to enjoy it. Our company culture is respectful and relax. And it doesn’t hurt that you can snack on the products we distribute during the day like Snickers, Oreo cookies and for the healthier pallet, Kind Bars with some ☕️. If you’re interested in knowing more about our company or career opportunities as we continue growing, check out our web page: https://lnkd.in/eF3f9924 😉.

I turn up to work every week, do my fair share & in return I expect to get paid every week. That’s normal right? Apparently not with Unit Birwelco, leaving all workshop/site staff without pay this bank hoilday weekend due to no payment from a client. Firstly, if a client doesn’t pay up on time that isn’t my problem. I’ve turned up on time & done my jobs so therefore I should be paid on time, that’s fair surely? Secondly, they had the cheek to send a email at 16:17, 12 minutes before offices shut & not reopening until Tuesday. Probably to avoid the phone calls that would of been coming there way. I’ve said this before, will they be happy to speak to staff members mortage providers explain why they wasn’t able to make there payments on time? & cover any fines that staff may receive from this. I’m doubtful. One thing I’m sure on all the flash company’s cars will still be there next week. (If I receive any contact from someone from Unit Birwelco asking me to remove this, forget it. Take a second, and think about the staff that live week to week due to no fault of there own & can’t do anything with there families this bank hoilday weekend).
