If you're keen to understand how to leverage the learning potential of corporate volunteering assignments, come and join our next discussion forum. Over the 20 years of experience I've had supporting this work, I've lost count of the number of times volunteer participants have said they learnt at least as much through their volunteering engagements as they people they were there to serve learnt from them. That's nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, going to learn as well as to give makes your relationship with the organization you are working with much more equable. When there is so much learning potential to be offered through these engagements, it's important to understand how best to nurture and harvest it. This is a safe space to share experiences with other Corporate Volunteering colleagues and learn how to do things even better.
How can corporate volunteering initiatives be not only meaningful opportunities for employees to support the work of nonprofit partners, but opportunities for learning and development? Join us on June 18th for the next session in our discussion series on Driving Impact in Corporate Volunteering, 'Optimise the Learning'! We'll be joined by CAROL LELAND to learn how Johnson & Johnson incorporates learning into their skills-based volunteer engagements and maximises their impact. #Volunteering comes in lots of shapes and sizes. One of the most effective forms - in terms of the rewards for volunteers and for the organisations they help is #SkillsBasedVolunteering. That is, when professionals lend their expertise to groups that need it, but may not be able to afford it on a commercial basis. Kudos then to the Financial Times for highlighting the #Impact that volunteer advisers can have in this feature. I love the final quote from Diana Hind: “Yes, I am providing something to someone else, but more often than not they are providing something to me. A new way of looking at something, or helping someone problem solve something that helps me look at something in a different manner.” Sums up the huge positive impact that #ESV can have, for me! https://lnkd.in/geJBwb9y

🌍 Discovering the Power of Volunteering "Volunteering is at the very core of being a human. No one has made it through life without someone else’s help.” – Heather French Henry Volunteering is not just about giving your time; it's about the incredible impact we can make when we come together to support others. Imagine the joy of seeing someone’s face light up because you helped them learn something new, or the warmth of knowing you've made someone's day a little brighter by lending a hand. That's the power of volunteering, it's a chance to connect with others, learn from different perspectives, and grow as a person. Whether you're passionate about animals, the environment, education, or social justice, there's a cause waiting for your unique touch. Your energy and enthusiasm can bring change in ways you might not even imagine. As you consider how you want to make your mark on the world, remember that every small act of kindness adds up to something bigger. It's about stepping outside your comfort zone, embracing new experiences, and discovering the power you have to create positive change. So, why not take that first step? Explore local opportunities, reach out to organizations that inspire you, and see where your passion leads you. #Volunteerism #SocialImpact #MakeADifference #YouthLeadership #Inspiration #Humanity
