Tanzania Mainland🇹🇿 has 26 administrative regions each divided into 139 Districts, 184 councils ,3,926 Wards, 12318 Villages, 4263 Mtaa and 64384 rural hamlets. For the placement of 2 Community health workers for each kitongoji and Mtaa, the country requires 137,294 total community health workers. The demand is still high , as CHWs need to be people centred in which every community group should have his own CHWs Example: Bodaboda need to have their CHWs, community business groups need to have their CHWs etc. The future is convincing as this Integrated Community Health workers program in Tanzania will continue to upgrade the number of CHWs to meet full demands of the existing community. Very good vision of community health! The ability to respond to community health needs and be able to adapt as they evolve is the key to success for community health in phase with technological advances.

With Africa projected to face a six million health worker shortfall by 2030, the continent's health infrastructure is on the balance. CHWs represent hope, bridging the vast health service gaps. What does a health system look like that makes healthcare accessible, convenient and coordinated for people wherever they are? What if health workers – at any point in the health system – could identify you and view your health record, guided by digital tools, which ensured they provided the correct guidance, diagnosis and treatment? A few years ago, we asked these questions and conceptualized what is now #AfyaTek, an innovation that is changing how healthcare is delivered in #Tanzania in a strong partnership between D-tree, Apotheker Tanzania and the Government of Tanzania. Today, this system is being expanded to support #women, #children and #adolescents to receive better quality healthcare that is coordinated across Community Health Workers, drug dispensers and health facilities. In all of my years with D-tree, we developed a number of videos documenting our work. This video, produced by BBC Storyworks and the WHO Foundation, is by far my favorite. It shows the value of D-tree’s work – not just how health workers are using technology – but the far more important human element that this work enables. The mobile phone gives health workers the tools to deliver the best care possible, allowing them to focus on building strong, trusting and lasting relationships with the people they serve. A huge congratulations to the D-tree and Apotheker teams for all you have achieved – and for the digital transformation of health that will continue to progress due to this important work!

Main difficulties with community health digital solutions include limited access to technology, data security concerns, and a lack of alignment with patients' needs and values. Electrification of health facilities and access to electricity by CHWs are foundational for effective implementation of community digital health systems. They ensure reliable operation of digital tools and connectivity, essential for data collection, patient management, and telemedicine services, ultimately enhancing healthcare delivery. #CommunityHealth #DigitalHealth #HealthcareDelivery
