It is 25 MW for the Central African Republic! Energie Centrafricaine’s (Enerca) 25MWp Danzi Solar PV (+ battery storage) power plant was launched some days ago in Danzi village, 20km north of Bangui, the capital city of the Central African Republic. Constructed by China’s Shanxi Construction Company (as well as Engineering and Procurement), the power plant is on 70 hectares of land. It comprises nearly 47000 panels with the capacity to generate 37GWh annually. Started in 2021, the Danzi project was scheduled to be completed in June 2022 but may have been delayed due to COVID and its associated global trade disruptions. Electricity from the Danzi facility will be evacuated via a new 3km line that connects the facility to the existing 63KV line from the 10MW Boali Hydropower plant to the capital city, Bangui. The project was funded by a $65m grant from The World Bank’s International Development Association. The project includes a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and capacity-building programs. Danzi solar project will increase generation capacity from 72MW to 96MW while improving electricity accessibility from the current 14% as part of the 2030 goal of 50%. The 2nd phase of the project, which has reached a financial agreement, will increase capacity to 40MWp. First heard about this project from a post from Alain Lessick earlier this year. #africa #afrique #electricity #powergeneration #centralafricanrepublic
