🔬 👩 We have handled science for many years and that is why we like to talk about women who work in our industry. We want to remember how important it is to create job opportunities for women in the scientific scenario because, unfortunately, the gap is still evident. Despite preparation and years of study, job opportunities are often unequal. So let’s use this day, the International Women's Day, to talk about how to improve opportunities of women of science. 💪

I am taking this highly relatable course: 'The Four Phases of Women's Career' course in LinkedIn Learning. Four phases are distributed into 4 decades: 20s is ambitious, 30s come with a cultural shock (IYKYK), 40s give them re-acceleration opportunities, and in 50s... we ROAR.... Women are still underrepresented in these areas. In the EU the proportion of women working in R&D was only 33,7 % in 2021 (source: https://lnkd.in/gdagmnA7). 📈 Only 59 percent of our survey respondents* believe that women have the same opportunities to succeed in the technology industry as men. Less than half of women believe in equal opportunities, while nearly 70 percent of men think so. The work must go on. The Millennium Technology Prize exists to inspire and promote equality and diversity within technology and science that creates a better life around the world. The share of women within a male dominated science and technology community must be increased. Resources are wasted if women are not involved in working towards a better world. When we ensure that diverse people build innovations and technological solutions, they become more accessible globally and are adopted by different communities and societies. 🏆 The picture shows the only female winner of the Prize so far, Frances Arnold, who invented directed evolution. We look forward to seeing more female winners in the future.
