I am excited to be speaking on financial crimes prevention and compliance on Wednesday, June 5, in the New York Music Month Conference at New York University presented by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and Media and the NYU Music Business Program.
Our panel will be entitled “Decoding Deception: Insights into Music Streaming Fraud” with Mandy McCormack, EVP of Marketing & Partner Strategy for Trisha Yearwood, Charleton Lamb, Product and Marketing Consultant, Along With LLC, Andrew Batey, Co-CEO, Beatdapp, and moderator Ashley Carman of Bloomberg. As Ashley’s stellar reporting has revealed, experts have estimated billions in theft from streaming fraud. Misuse of the digital music ecosystem for money laundering poses additional risks. AI and bots give criminal enterprises and casual fraudsters alike poweful tools to attempt royalty theft and concealment on an unprecedented scale. I will help explore legal exposures and strategies for investigation, enforcement cases, and dispute resolution.
More importantly—
If a rivoting anti-fraud panel isn’t enough to motivate your attendance, perhaps the fact that an earlier presentation will feature
Joey Bada$$ on the Importance of Mentorship is. Please check out the whole day’s schedule; the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and NYU have put together a packed program of useful sessions and amazing speakers.
