Where did I get the idea to write these thought-provoking pieces?
When I worked for Enet in Dublin, Conal Henry, the CEO, regularly wrote a ‘thought leadership’ PR/blog post outlining his predictions for the market, the trends, and where he would focus his attention.
I found the concept amazing! I wondered how he could do it. In time, I realised he had been in the industry a long time, and he had built up his confidence so that if he said something with undoubted confidence, well, who would question him? Would you?
Was he always right? Sometimes. But that doesn’t matter. His prediction came from somewhere, so if you are afraid to speak out about your industry as no one else is saying it or you don’t want it to blow up in your face. Well, I say that you believe in what you are saying with every fibre (pun not intended) of your body that if someone does question, you can stand behind it.
That’s how I feel, and I think this applies to not just my job but all of life.
Share your own experience with others; it's your experience, and it can't be wrong.
I learnt a lot from the Belfast man.
Until the next thought-provoking idea…
