I caught up this morning with someone who is an incredible supporter of me and my work, and who produces incredible work himself - Tom Haramis of HF Entertainment .
Tom was one of the first to put his hand up when I said that I was launching #CULTUREBites 5 years ago and offered to help. He's now an award-winning film maker (Cannes World Film Festival no less!), with the scars to prove it. And that's because he's the most incredible storyteller. He thinks in storyboards.
And he reminded me that #CULTUREBites is unique.
We mused how we are inundated with, nay, drenched in posts on LinkedIn every single day. By the time I've finished writing, another 50 will have been added to my personal feed, if not more. It's overwhelming.
The same goes for events, whether they are meet ups, conferences, masterclasses, webinars or whatever. There are literally hundreds to choose from. So why would anyone take 2 hours of of their day to join us at #CULTUREBites?
Let's start with a few questions.
When was the last time you got to sit down and have a conversation with a speaker at one of those events? Got to ask them the questions you want answered? To be able to share your perspective too? To maybe challenge what they are saying? And to hear others in the room share their insights and perspectives on that topic too?
If you didn't get to do any of those things, then you're hearing what someone else thinks you need to hear. And it's not the whole story - you're missing the absolute gold that is all around you in the room.
And that's how #CULTUREBites is different. You get to sit down with the Conversation Leader (note there's no "speakers") and discuss a specific aspect of company culture. Yes, we have a topic, but the conversation can go anywhere. I caution my Conversation Leaders to have an outline plan of 3 - 5 things they'd like to share, but to be aware that we might not get to them all, because the conversation is dynamic. Each insight they drop can open up a whole new line of discussion. Each question posed can lead us in another direction and a fresh insight. And the gold is indeed everywhere in the room, not just with the Conversation Leader.
So if you want to have a real conversation - to talk WITH rather than be talked AT - then join us at the virtual #CULTUREBites Table. Your next opportunity is this week, Wednesday, 23 August 23 from 12-2pm on Zoom when Chris Akayan, Chief Culture & Capability Officer at Mirvac will be sharing insights into their 10 year culture transformation journey.
And you'll get to ask the questions you want answered.

PS If you want to hear what #CULTUREBites regulars have to say, Kirsty Simmonds, Desleigh White, Lisa Cotton, Max Young, Warren Bingham, saima kalis, and Jennifer Tokome can fill you in on their experiences.
Come. It's worth it.
