5 things you can learn from how Bacardi + Nike Communications, Inc. partner with + empower creators of all backgrounds. So grateful to have been able to build the long-term relationship with multi-talented dancer, host, and AAPI advocate @sheelaawe X Bacardi over the past 9 months through the Carta Collective. Here's how this team is doing it differently: 1. It's a LONG-TERM partnership formed around aligned values. 2. They prioritize building a real relationship, not a transactional one by making the time to check in on video calls throughout the entire partnership. 3. They care about Sheela outside of the program - they reached out to be integrated into Sheela's Lunar New Year MIXer. Again it's the authentic relationship that made Sheela feel supported and seen. 4. They build a community of like-minded creators that are now friends, collaborators, and Bacardi stans through the Carta Collective long-term program. 5. They create COOL creator-centric IRL experiences. Sheela went to Gov Ball and the VMA's this past year and they are programming and elevating even more for 2024. Creating programming thinking about "is this something creators will actually enjoy" is super impactful. I took my moustache out for a jog with adidas Runners London earlier. 😥 6 miles of group activity 📢 Some excellent coaching from professionals ☕️ FREE coffee when done 👟 Ability to trial new trainers 📸 Paparazi taking action shots of us throughout the session 💪 They are amazing at connecting consumers to their brand, in a nice relaxing way. Yes we chanted “adidas” for group photos too. The 3 stripes were evident everywhere but not compulsory /// As a supplier to adidas, it’s imperative my team and I connect well with their brand. It helps us understand their culture, find the best matched people, design the perfect training courses, and maintain our position as an extension to their management team. I can spend days getting to know a brand properly once they have made an enquiry with us. Some of the other ways I like to connect: ✈️ Visits to their HQ and tours of their offices. 🛍️ We always buy our customers’ products and test them out (which my wife and kids love)! 🍻 Beers or a bite to eat in any public spaces - soak up that atmosphere. 🚶♂️ Walk the site at all times of day and night until you know it inside out. 🧩 Connect with other people in the organisation at all levels - even if they’re not directly security related. 🎵 Spotify playlists for any festival I am reviewing plans for. 🎄 Always get to their Christmas party if you can do! "I worked on the Adidas global account for 5 years. And Nike before that. It felt like the ‘someone has broken a record’ brief came around almost weekly. People worldwide have been working on that brief for the last 50 years. W+K alone must’ve run a thousand plus ads on it. It’s hard to constantly find new ways to say it. The best version I did, with Sean Doyle, was an ad for long-distance Noureddine Morceli. It said, ‘Gold medals don’t make hills any flatter.’ But damn! How did we miss this? Really glad to see big brands using fun, energetic, comedic tones during dark global times. Giving people an escape, even if it is for 30 seconds, will resonate with consumers.
