We're committed to changing the narrative for women in investing, venture capital, and entrepreneurship at BAD BITCH EMPIRE. BBE venture associate Sarah Marilyn Barrick breaks it down: "You can't really plug women or people of color into accelerators and institutions that were built by and for well-networked Harvard MBA white dudes. So we need to do something very radically different, and that's something that the BBE Fund is doing every single day. Learning from Lisa Carmen Wang how to identify these standout companies, these breakout success and how to get more women companies funded, it has been an amazing journey. I'm very excited about what we're doing here and I've checked out all of these companies here and they're all exceptional."

It is no secret that venture deal making has varied significantly when broken down by gender, with female-founded companies collectively receiving far less investment than male-founded companies. But the data shows that there are reasons to be optimistic about what lies ahead. 👏 PitchBook's annual All In: Female Founders in the US VC Ecosystem report was just published along with its inaugural accompanying report - the All In: Female Founders in the European VC Ecosystem. Pitchbook recently released a report on 'Female Founders in the VC Ecosystem' While 2023 showed signs of resilience among female founders in the US, with the third-highest annual level of capital secured on record, it's clear that we still have work to do. 🚀 Despite a challenging year with selective VC investment, female founders managed to secure a record proportion of total VC deal value at 22.8%, excluding outlier investments. This is a testament to the innovative spirit and resilience of women in the tech and startup space. However, the gap in venture capital between female and all-male founding teams persists, underscoring the need for more inclusive investment practices. 📈 We're calling all ambitious female founders looking to make an impact! I'm so excited to share a new iteration of the ground breaking #PitchBook All In: Female Founders in the VC Ecosystem Series for which I am forever honored to be even remotely involved in. It's so fulfilling to observe the incredible team of women that produce and release this report. This year it was especially exciting to see it come to fruition on International Women's Day and observe the splash it made alongside a brand new European edition plus countless events. I want to shout out all the incredible people who contributed: Ewa Rosol Jane Mallett Sarah McFarland Briana Howard Sara Good Fallon Sullivan Rachel Schowalter Julia Midkiff Stacey Jenkins Kayla Gordon Kane Mary Kenefake Abby Rankin Alexandra Comnenos Samantha Ratty Michelle Wie West and most of all, the report's intrepid writer and my favorite celebrity Annemarie Donegan, who managed to produce this report while nearly single handedly keeping her team afloat. That being said, the execution of the All In initiative is no small feat. Much like the path ahead for female founders with their companies collectively receiving far less investment than male-founded companies, it requires perseverance and the work is never done. But the data featured in the report shows that there are reasons to be optimistic about what lies ahead and the day of release always brings out that optimism. TLDR: PitchBook's annual All In: Female Founders in the US VC Ecosystem report was just published along with its inaugural accompanying report - the All In: Female Founders in the European VC Ecosystem. We are excited to welcome our partner PitchBook to the Women in CVC Summit in Sonoma next month to present the 2023 All in US Report. According to the report, female founders in the U.S. made positive gains in 2023, but they still face major barriers to securing venture capital funding. https://lnkd.in/ggcrDEy6 Annemarie Donegan will lead a discussion about how key industry players are supporting women investors and founders, and how others can help champion those efforts. In the All In Report, the share of female check writers (GP level) at the largest VC firms grew slightly from the previous year to 17.4%. Separately, we partnered with PitchBook in our 2023 State of CVC Survey Report, co-authored by SVB. In our findings (https://lnkd.in/gM_gF-Gm), 17% of corporate venture heads identify as female. Corporate investors, check out the summit and more events at counterclub.vc
