Every year, approximately 300 children and adolescents in Austria, and 10,000 across Europe, are diagnosed with cancer. 🎗Childhood cancer is different. While adults often develop cancer due to lifestyle or environmental factors, the cancers affecting children typically arise from genetic changes that are not inherited from their parents. These distinctions mean that diagnosing, treating, and researching childhood cancer requires dedicated approaches tailored to the needs of young patients. 🔬At St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute (CCRI), our mission is to make a lasting impact in the fight against childhood cancer. Our team works tirelessly to improve the chances of recovery for these children. 💛If you are passionate about making a difference, consider joining our mission. 501(c)(3) Breast Cancer Awareness Organization committed to educating women on the importance of breast health, aiming to reduce the breast cancer mortality rate and amplifying awareness in the Black & Brown community.
As we celebrate the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, it's crucial to highlight the importance of mammograms in the fight against breast cancer for Hispanic/Latina women. Hispanic women have lower rates of breast cancer and breast cancer mortality compared to non-Hispanic Black women and non-Hispanic white women. However, breast cancer is still the most common cancer (and the leading cause of cancer death) among Hispanic women. So, screening mammography is just as important for Hispanic/Latina women as it is for Black women and white women. Hispanic women tend to be diagnosed with more advanced breast cancers than white women. This may be due to more delays in follow-up care after an abnormal mammogram. Source: Susan G. Don't let this photo scare you. ❤️❤️❤️ It was taken during the Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer In-Person Event last year. Why would I show you such a crazy photo? It's because what's happening in this photo are relationships forming between cancer patients, survivors and supporters. And, yes, we're having fun! The 2024 Showing Up: Perspectives On Cancer is coming up on Oct. 5 & 6, and if you sign up now, you get 50% off. Just register using promo code NYC at https://lnkd.in/d7KuKDhj. If you're a cancer patient, survivor or supporter (caregiver, oncology nurse, oncologist, mental health professional, etc...), don't miss out on this event! We share our stories & relate to each other, get inspired by our amazing lineup of speakers, have fun & best of all, we become family. Many of our previous attendees have collaborated, become friends & more. Let me know in the chat - what is your connection to cancer? PS We are still looking for people to help financially support the event as sponsors as well as GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/f74c0e37. So far, we have raised enough money to give $200 to three cancer patients or survivors to put toward travel expenses. #showingup #perspectivesoncancer #cancerpatients #cancersurvivors #cancersupporters #healing #hope #resilience

🌟 Boldly redefining cancer support for young adults 🌟 We’re thrilled to unveil the branding work we've done for Trekstock. We’ve positioned them as a life-affirming cancer charity for young adults at the forefront of the evolving cancer landscape. Trekstock is the only UK charity that helps people in their 20s and 30s navigate life beyond cancer treatment, and the brand needed clarity and standout appeal to fulfil its promise. With a bold new brand voice, we candidly address the reality of navigating this life stage alongside cancer. By normalising the conversation and breaking taboos, we aim to reduce isolation and speak directly to young adults to address their unique challenges and realities. Trekstock's new look and feel break free from more clinical approaches to lean into an authentic and aspirational aesthetic. The emphasis on community highlights Trekstock’s collaborative approach, showing that it’s created “by” the community and “for” them. We've really loved working on this project. The Trekstock team and the people they support have truly made an impact on all of us at ODA Branding. Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer | Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer | Birmingham based supporting those who are diagnosed with breast cancer with their mental well- being with non medical support here in the Midlands.
Feel it Friday… It’s that time of week again! Breast changes can happen for many reasons, and most of them are not serious. Lots of women have breast lumps, and most breast lumps are not cancerous. However, if you find changes in your breast that are not normal for you, it's best to see a GP as soon as possible. This is because it's important to rule out breast cancer. If cancer is detected, then appropriate treatment should be planned as quickly as possible. It is important that women of all ages check their breasts regularly…. NHS Screening: You'll automatically get your first invite for breast screening between the ages of 50 and 53. Then you'll be invited every 3 years until you turn 71. If you have not been invited for breast screening by the time you are 53 and think you should have been, contact your local breast screening service. Learn more about our journey and the power of support at LFBC.org.uk.
